Most of the buttons on my Goldstar MV1604SB stopped working

Does the display on your microwave read "Locked"? If so, then the Child Lock feature has been activated. To toggle the lock off, press and hold the Stop/Clear pad for more than 4 seconds. When this feature is active, most buttons are disabled to prevent accidental microwave use.

If holding the Stop/Clear button doesn't work, then I'd suggest there is a problem with the contacts behind the buttons. Sears Parts Direct has the parts diagrams for this microwave here: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Goldstar-Parts/Microwave-Parts/Model-MV1604SB/1366/0123245 . (It's better to replace the control panel then to try to fix it.) Use the part numbers from the list to find price and availability at other sites.

The manual for the MV1604SB is available from Manage My Life: http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals/17638/GOLDSTAR-Countertop-Microwave-L0521424?brand_name_search=loosening+tight+screws .

I hope this helps.

Locked keyboard on a 1540tw

I guess your model number is GMV1540TW?

I think I answered this or a duplicate post already, but here goes:

The owner's manual covers that, but if for some reason you don't have yours, you can get it here.

To set child lock:

1. Press STOP/CLEAR.
2. Touch and hold START more than 4 seconds.
"LOCKED" will appear in the display window with two beeps.

To cancel child lock:

1. Touch and hold START more than 4 seconds.
"LOCKED" will disappear in the display window with two beeps.

Microwave oven is noisy during use

Sounds like you have a failing turntable motor. You can contact LG / Goldstar about parts or service at 800-222-6457.

Power is on, but won't cook

First, be sure the child lock is off. It may have an "L" or the word "LOCKED" showing in the display. You can unlock it by pressing and holding the CLEAR pad for 5 seconds or so. Your model may use a different key, maybe the "0" (zero) key. If that doesn't fix it, since it's still under warranty you should grab your sales receipt and your owner's manual and call LG / Goldstar customer service at 1-800-243-0000 to find the nearest authorized servicer. There may be some foreign substance on the circuit board or inside the layers of the keypad. Most commonly this is due to spray cleaner being sprayed directly onto the keypad. Cleaner should be always sprayed on a soft cloth first, then use the cloth to wipe the keypad clean. Always use alcohol-based cleaner on microwaves, never ammonia-based cleaner, which can crack and/or warp the plastic. If this is what has happened, it would not be covered under warranty, and it may or may not be repairable. A handy person can remove the control panel frame and see if there's any liquid inside on or behind the panel. If so, it is possible to dry it out with an air compressor or heat, but often that does not work.
