Does the Goldstar Model MV1501W microwave oven have an internal fuse that would keep the heating function and turntable from working, yet have the light, fan and display still work?
Micro switch is bad .remove top vent cover 4 screws, after removing plastic vent panel you will see 1 screw above display time window, remove this screw and lift up the complete button time control panel slightly and pull towards you to remove.there are 2 connections on this panel 1 is a 12 pin connector and a 2 pin power connection remove both put control panel aside.now there are 3 micro switches where the door pins close into the oven lock, remove 2 screws that hold the micro switch housing,on the bottom of housing you will see a small clip gently pull to the right and push back to remove .there are 2 switches on bottom of it and 1 on top. the 1 on top is normally open and closes when door is shut but like mine it stayed open and resulted in (light s display but no turntable)soon as i replaced upper microswitch it runs perfect.i hope this helps .MODEL MV1501W GOLDSTAR
No, it has a fuse inside, but if it were blown, the oven would be totally dead.
The problem you have is either a bad secondary interlock (probably the top door switch) or a problem with its mount.
Door switch
or mount trouble is usually caused by slamming the door or by opening
the
door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.
There are
plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and
onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.
The screws on these
mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be
activated properly.
Sometimes it's
a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just
out of position. This tab
can be hard to see, since it is under the
bottom edge of the switch.

My goldstar microwave model mv1501w had the same issue with running but not heating. I had a repair man come over, and fixed some wiring in the panel. the microwave then started making a vibration noise everytime it ran. today, to my complete horror, the microwave caught on fire and flames were shooting from the vent in the front. words of advise, throw out this piece of **** before it burns down your house...
Microwave isn't coming on. Unplugged the microwave and then plugged it back in. It came on for just a moment, then it went off again.
Hello
& Welcome to FixYa
If
the fuse is good then the problem is with the high voltage capacitor or the
circuit board itself going bad and needs replacement. If it is a circuit board
then it will cost you around same as new one. Please get back to me if you have
any other questions.

Thank you for your insights. We did try the door latch testing to make sure it was closed completly. After some other things, we gave up and took the microwave down. We started taking it apart to see if we could find anything obvious that could be repaired by non-experts like us. What we found was a wire that had come loose behind the display panel. The end of the wire had a clamp which we pushed onto a tab on a device on the side wall of the heating chamber. It fit so tightly we have no idea how it could have shaken loose! The oven has been in use for 4 years, though, so I guess vibrations could do it. Anyway, we put the protective shell back on and it works again perfectly! Just thought you'd like to know. Thank you again for your assistance. It is greatly appreciated.
