Sounds like you may have a problem in the auto iris curcuit or the auto settings was switched to manual and the lens is closed. Check first to see that the lens is setup in auto mode. If it is then the auto iris as i said before is bad or stuck closed unless the small caps in that curcuit went bad as they always do after a few years. Good Luck

I had the same problem with Samsung SCD103. It was sent to the factory January 2007($150.00) and everything worked fine until last week when the grandkids came down. The camera simply stopped displaying any image, the viewfinder went black. I suspect is a failure on the CCD. Now, I have a non-working camera that I've bought extra batteries for and lots of DV tapes. I won't buy another Samsung product now that I've seen the problems and apparent lack of concern for the customer!

MiniDV cameras have two video heads on the rotating drum, which read and write the picture in broad horizontal bands. When one head is not working, normally because it is clogged by dust/dirt/tape residue, you see broad bands of noise across the image occupying exactly half the total image area.......

Part available form partmaster.co.uk.. part no..SAMAD9706489A.. lcd fpc ***. easy to replce ..take you time and try yourself.. if i can help with instructions [email protected].. cost of ribon £11.49..
