Microwave Oven Door Handle Replacement

I have a new handle and need to replace the old, broken one. There are three small screws on the side of the door, which I have removed. I am having problems, however, separating the inner glass from the outer plastic frame to get into the inside of the door to replace the door handle and screws. Is there some trick to this?

You shoul take off the hole door, use something like a flat screw driver and wedge the plate off.
some of the mics got tamper holes where it hooks in.

Hope it works...

The handle on my maytag microwave oven broke off at the bottom. How do I replace ? Model MMV5165BA

The door handle can easily be replaced without the assistance of a repairman. This is a common problem with some microwave oven doors.

This is not difficult. To access the door handle mounting screws on MOST microwave ovens, you have to remove the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. You can use a small screwdriver to carefully pry the plastic up and work your way slowly around the perimiter of the glass. Most microwave ovens also have grooves in the panel that you can insert the screwdriver into. Use care not to pry against the glass. The glass is tempered and also has an RF shield that prevents harmful microwaves from potentially harming the consumer. If you break the glass, you will need to purchase a new door.

The door handle screws are located behind the inner panel. Simply remove the broken handle and install the new one. Re-insert the inner door panel carefully and gradually work your way around the perimeter of the door glass and make sure it snaps back into place.

Replacement parts can be found at any of the following sites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
repairclinic.com

NOTE: If your microwave is the same model you have this listed under, I could only find one website that offers the handle as a separate replacement without purchasing the entire door (the entire door cost over $200!). The handle lists for about $51 at repairclinic.com. You can search around, but I have already tried the following sites:

appliancepartspros.com
searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com

I would like to replace the microwave oven handle.

The inside of the door has a Black Plastic frame about 1 inch wide. This frame can be removed by placing a thin screwdriver between it and the outer door frame and gently (very gently) prying it away from the door. It takes a little wiggling of the frame but it will unlock. On each end of the handle is a philips head screw that holds the handle to the door.

Kithchenaid Microwave

You'll notice there are small clips holding the stainless outer door to the black metal inner door. Get a bunch of putty knives (butter knives work too) and work a knife into about every other clip. I did it on the bottom. Once you're sure all the bottom clips are free, and you've removed the three screws on the side of the door, you'll be able to gently pull the stainless outer door away from the black inner door and get to the handle screws.

I bent both doors in this process, and tore the black plastic liner into a few pieces while I was getting everything out, so I had to buy a new door ($200). Be careful.

Handle Replacement on a HKMS155L Microwave

I think you have solved your problem already.

I have seen your requesty only now and I am sending the diagram to replace handle.

You remove door latch (nr 3 on diagram) first, then you unscrew the screw nr .8 and remove handle (nr.7).

Below the diagram:

I have a GE Profile Microwave and the handle is broken....

I have the same issue. The Handle broke off my GE Microwave Oven (Model JVM1190SY 001). GE does not sell the handle seperately from what I can tell. I just ordered a new door. It's rediculously expensive. I tried to replace the handle with a nice drawer pull but couldn't find a size pull to match and I broke the plastic cover trying to get access to the screws for the handle, which is why I decided to buy the new door. Hopefully installation is not that difficult. This oven was manufactured in 2001, seems the handles have a 7 year life span.
