From an old post (at Dell):
The TIP3055 handles about 70V and 10 Amps and is an NPN, so I decided to purchase four 2N3055 TO220.

from another one:
was able to successfully directly substitute MJE3055 NPN transistors for those on the original board

They are "equivalent", but (much) bigger: you must do some bending for them to fit inside the chassis

My monitor was just blinking folowing the thunderstom some days back and I tried to replace some 4 capacitors coded C5707,and it comes on but abnormal display and then the replaced transistors burn out...

At this point you may be better off to replace the whole board, the four C5707 are transistors, not capacitor. You need to make sure that there are no cold solder joints around inverter transformers lead, check the tuning caps in the inverter output sections.

Display not available after a few second....i already replaced tl1451acn inverter ic, back light , , ballast capacitor (replaced)...the only one not replaced yet is high voltage transformer (4 pcs), 2...

Replace the high voltage transformer. It is the ballast for the backlight.. If you could pinpoint the one that's overheating then that is the one that needs replacement. Much better if you will replace the four transformer...

Hope that answer your question..
Much appreciated if you could rate this help. thanks.

Picture goes black at random intervals

There are 4 c5707/5706 in the inverter transformer driving circuits, the cause of the problem was due to poor solder connection in the bias circuits of the transistors. Make sure to check that after you install the new transistors otherwise you will blowthem up. Common problem with this model. When the circuit drwas too much power from the power supply, it will shut itself off to ptotect itself.

look at the 3 amp. fuse on the mainboard! By the way, you can buy very cheap USB light, wich are working with a small lighttube. Use the transistors of their generator!

Gone from blinkid led to lights out.

You really need to replace all 4 and also the 2 FU9024 chips and examine all the solder in the inverter area. Also if you have the 2 lamp connector board with a chungwa LCD panel them your lower lamp is probably also bad. Check out www.lcdrepair.us for instructional videos on Dell models as well as repair kits and boards for that unit.

LED's blinking, no video

Your C5707 transistors in the monitor have failed. Suggest replacing all four with the Sanyo C5707 transistor. A common problem.

BenQ FP731 Screen briefly displays then turns off

hi. i had the same problem and fixed it. the problem are the 4 transistors (C5707) one of more are shorted (Q739,Q740 and Q759, Q760). Also the fuse PF751 (3a) has to be replaced in most cases. In my case i replaced the fuse and 1 transistor (C5707)
