How do i change the names on the extensions on my kx-dt343 so when i hit the button to call that line it shows the right name?

What are you using to program.

PT Programming or you are using a PC Tool?

Did you save after setting names?

Programming is done on 7310, 7324 and 7316 type sets.
Enter programming by pressing the feature key followed by **266344 (with the handset in its cradle).When prompted to enter the password enter 266344.
The screen should say TERMINALS&SETS. The 4 top line/feature keys are now used for programming.
At the terminals&sets prompt, press the show key (top right arrow).
The display should now ask for an extension number.
Enter extension number you want to change the name on. (i.e 202)
Then press the show key (top right arrow)
The display should say LINE ACCESS
Press the next key (bottom right arrow) .
The display should say CAPABILITIES.
Press the next key (bottom right arrow) .
The display say Name(Traci).
press the Chng soft key.
use the dial pad to enter the name. advance using the arrow soft key to go to the next letter
ex. Winston = 9 -> 4,4,4 -> 6,6 -> 7,7,7,7-> 8-> 6,6,6-> 6,6
Press the next key (bottom right arrow) to enter the name.
Press the release key when finished

Perhaps you are trying to set up speed dialing.

On the main phone 9usually receptionist
1. Press Prog key
2. "**"
3. the user programming password (usually 1234)
4. "004"
5. Enter
6. enter the extension you want to change the name on
7. type out name (you must use the direction pad in the bottom right corner of your phone if you have 2 letters in a row that are on the same key)
8. press Auto Dial/Store button
9. lift hand set and hang up

If you are using this phone on a Panasonic KX-TDA 30/100/200/600 system. From the Switcboard / Main telephone or Managers phone with the handset on the cradle/hook press Program * * or Program * # followed by the system password ( default is 1234). Now press 004 and then ENTER. Enter the extension number you want to change. Now enter the name (the same way as texting on a cellphone) To save the changes press AUTO DIAL / STORE. To go to the next extension press NEXT on the screen. When you are done lift the handset and put it down to exit program mode.

If by ID you mean name, it's done in SYSTEM programming. That location changes by system model number, but usually it's in either 004 or 604.

To Change the Name on a Mailbox:
1. Log into system administration
2. Select the softkey under "MBOX"
3. Select the softkey under "Chng"
4. Enter the mailbox number (extension. you want to change the name on
5. The display shows "Reset Password"
6. Select the softkey under "Next", keep hitting "Next" until the display shows the name
7. Select the softkey under "Chng" to enter a new name
8. Enter the name using the dial pad. Enter last name first, press "# #" to enter a comma and then enter the first name. When spelling the name, press "#" to move to the next character
9. Select the softkey under "Next" to save the change
10. Hit the release button
