Orange Light Computer will not turn on flashing orange light on front power button thak you V

    I have the 5150c (the compact version) and have had replacements from Dell of



    -motherboard

    -fan

    -RAM

    -power supply

    -hear sink



    and still the problem persists. It runs for a few minutes, sometimes a few hours, and then just goes into a blinking orange light mode all of a sudden. To turn back on, I have to unplug it from the wall.



    PS: I'm not stupid - i have standby and hibernate off.

Thanks for your reply!

I just repalced it - I had a brand new battery in my "battery closet" - and it still shuts down by itself, with the blinking orange light and all.

You need to replace the motherboard lithium battery. Looks like a watch battery.

Orange light flashing, no chargine
A replacement battery must be the EXACT same power spec as the original in DC volts and Milliamps, or you could damage the Mobo components. Some aftermarket batteries do not work well. The connections may be different.

Since it sounds like an issue with the Power first try to release flea power.Disconnect the charger,remove battery,press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds.Reconnect the battery and charger.Turn on system and check if it turns on. For further help please check Dell Inspiron 1525 Manual. Also confirm if the light on the charger stays on,when connected to the system.

Power button if flashing orange and nothing else works
It's likely that your power supply has started to go out. There are several different leads with varying voltages & amps. If your computer is getting enough power to make a light flash yellow or orange then this often means that there is something wrong with one or more of the voltages from the power supply. Sometimes it means that something is wrong with your motherboard. Like: burned out capacitors, resistors, & etc.

This is directly from the User Manual:
If the computer is connected to an electrical outlet, the Battery light operates as follows:
• Solid green: The battery is charging.
• Flashing green: The battery is almost fully charged.
If the computer is running on a battery, the light operates as follows:
• Off: The battery is adequately charged (or the computer is turned off).
• Flashing orange: The battery charge is low.
• Solid orange: The battery charge is critically low.
