Things to check: 1. Make sure that your car receptacle has +12VDC. Try another device to confirm. 2. Make sure that the car charger is working properly. Most have a fuse in the tip. It could be blown. It may not be converting +12VDC to +5VDC which is required to power the GPS. Try another charger with the GPS. 3. Common problem with the 25xx series are loose/broken USB charger ports. This will prevent the unit from powering up with an external power source and will prevent the battery from being charged. Eventually the battery will lose its charge and since the USB charging port is loose, the battery will not charge and the unit will appear dead. My 2689LMT does as long as the PC is on. Will not work with a USB power "Brick" for some reason.

Go into the navigation settings and choose fastest way option. This has always been a problem with gps devices.

you do not "obtain" a split screen. It automatically shows the exit of a freeway as you come up to it. you also have to be navigating somewhere not just viewing the maps. if that seems to not be working, try updating the maps as that is bundled with them (junction view)

master reset the unit by powering it down, holding the bottom right corner and powering it back on. otherwise you may have a deffective unit. try a sofware update/ map update with express then call for an exchange

Depending where you are, the satellites can be higher or lower in the sky. This means that the garmin in your vehicle may not be able to see the satellites how you have it positioned in your vehicle. When encountering errors such as "No Map Data Available" and Garmin Express does not recognize your Garmin nuvi, check to see if your Garmin nuvi is out of storage space from your computer. Solution related to the fact that when brought up as the E: drive in windows there were 0 bytes free space on the Garmin nuvi. To get Garmin Express to recognize a unit which is full, do a search on the Windows Drive (E:) for "gmap" then choose "Open file location" This will get into the hidden ".system" directory. From there, delete the largest file map, such as "gmapprom" (or move this file to your hard drive). Afterward, reboot your computer to have Garmin Express software recognize your Garmin nuvi. On older units, also purchase a microSDHC card to be able to store the newest maps, such as the US & Canada 2.6Gb map file, which will not fit on the internal unit alone or a 2Gb card. The Garmin Express software will recognize 4Gb to 32Gb microSDHC Class 10 or UHS-I cards formatted to FAT32 and install the newest maps automatically to them.
