HI , my friends CBR 400 1989 keeps blowing the main fuse. It can sometimes drive for up to 20 kms ,it starts to cut out and finally when he or I try to start it again it runs rough and blows the main fuse, I opened and cleaned the ignition and kill switch switch, rerouted the battery live and neutral leads.Cleaned all terminals from the relay to starter motor to alternator. The regulator ground was very coroded .In fact most of the electrics have seen too much water for my liking. He has ridden it for 800 kms without fail until now. Could it be the corrosive battery terminals(now spotless) have taken out some electrical component? I m at a loss here coz all continuity checks with all leads from relay, battery etc are spot on Matt Ireland

    You re good !!

the regulator centre pin ( feeding one of the yellow wires) had no resistance.

    The regulator looks goosed!!

When we get a replacement reg should it be safe to ride the bike or could something else blow with it when I connect it?

If I dissconnect the reg can he ride the bike to a garage without damaging other components?

I know his battery wont be charging so he cant turn it off but I dont want to take anymore responsibility if this doesnt do the job and get him to a certified bike mechanic.

    Thanks matt

    Thanks again

First thing I'd be checking is the regulator. It's probably been degraded from the corroded ground or may have even taken in some water!

If it were me, I'd just get the regulator, put it on and be done with it - I don't think anything else is likely gone, but of course I can't see the condition of anything so that's a call you'll have to make.
Once the regulator is in, the battery will start charging properly again, and all should be well in the bike's universe.
If you know there are other corroded items etc. you may want to take care of them before they become an issue.
In short, we won't really know if there are other issues til that regulator is in.

I have a dawoo matiz car .790cc year 2000.wich keeps blowing the e.c.m fuse and this cuts off the fuel supply. sometimes it starts ok then suddenly it blows again i checked the fuel pump and seems

Check exactly when you do have a blown fuse as you are driving and in turning or as you driving normally. Also check the wires between E.C.M and Engine. The fuel Supply cuts off surely as soon as the E.C.M Fuse is blown because the fuel supply is going through the E .C. M.

My 2000 Honda CBR 929 just died when riding turn the ignition nothing no power what so ever any solutions????

Look on or near your starter solenoid. The main fuse for the motorcycle is typically located on the starter solenoid. Replace the main fuse . There should be a spare under the under the cover. Sometimes the Honda flat fuses look good but have actually cracked with age and are no longer flowing electricity. When the main fuse blows you lose all power to the motorcycle . Be sure to get spare fuses at the local Honda dealer , it is a dealer only part.

Keeps blowing fuses!!!

HI ..PUT AN AMP METER IN LINE TO SEE WHAT THE AMP IS DRAWING..WHEN IT IS CRANKED UP ..IS 20 AMP WHAT IT CALL FOR ON THE AMP IF SO I WOULD NOT GO ANY HIGHER.....BUT IF YOU HAD JUST USED 20 AS A STARTING POINT FOR AN AMP-AGE...SOMETIMES IT IS BETTER THAT THE FUSES BLOW ONCE IN AWHILE THAN THE AMP...ALSO CHECK FOR A LOOSE GROUND.....GOOD LUCK
