1997 CBR 900RR keeps blowing instrument fuse

1997 CBR 900RR the horn, speedometer, temperature, neutral, turn signal dash lights stop working. Because the fuse keeps blowing. I disconnected the two connectors to the horn cause I thought maybe I needed to replace my horn. Not the wire to the button but the connectors to the horn. I will be driving down the road then all of a sudden the fuse blows. I drive an hour back and forth every day and it usually makes it there no problem then on the way back it blows? I have a 10 amp fuse in there now and I'm having trouble finding out if it's supposed to be a 20 amp maybe? Any help would be appreciated thanks a lot.

SOURCE: Right turn signal blowing fuse

Fuses are a SAFETY device. Never replace fuses with larger amp ones. Take the bike to an authorized repair shop and get it done right. There could be a short or relay problem that can lead to more extensive problems down the road. Safety devices are put in place to protect you and the system. Like in a home: if you run 14-2w/grd to light fixture the max fuse to use is 15amp fuse. never put a 20 in because the wire can melt at higher amps. Same with your bike. the wire is not rated to handel more than is was designed and fused for.

SOURCE: 84 honda shadow 700 vt lights are unpredictable

There seems to be some short in the circuit of the high beam, you will have to follow the high beam wiring, best would be to get the color of the high beam wire frm the head light bulb socket and trace it along you will sure find somwhere the along it the short.
Check the light switch and the blinker switch too.
Hope this helps!

SOURCE: rebuild the carb on a 98 honda cbr 900rr. Where

Dont rebuild unless absolutetly necessary or need to rejet. Try some Seafoam first, it might save you hundreds of dollars and a lot of frustration.
read directions on can or just try pouring 1/3 can into two gallons gas and really get on it ...it might clear up any hesitation or stalling if thats whats happening. I got mine at Autozone for $10.( And it fixed the problem after riding for about 15 miles.)

Could be the coil pack probably a weak stator,. Try a pickup coil for the stator if you can get your hands on it way cheaper then replacing whole unit. Good luck.

NO turn signal or neutral light, no speedometer or horn working. Changed 10 amp fuses but they keep blowing?

10 amp fuse is small a few things that you can do. go to a 15 and turn every thing on snd see if it blows and how long. if it don't blow in 5 mins. your good if it does blow then you have a wire problem. if so. unplug every thing that has to do with that fuse. and plug 1 in at a time UNTIL the fuse blows. good luck.

Lights or fuse for my speed odemeter guage and heater/air conditioning system

These lights for the dash are controlled by a rheostat instrument control dimmer switch next to the main light switch for the headlights, it is either turned off (have seen this dozens of times) or it is defective. Below is a picture of the switch assembly I speak of. The thumb wheel next to the knob is the dimmer control.

Speedo, turn signals, brake lights, horn stopped working. All else is fine.

Gap your plugs to 38 thou. Check all your bulbs (one burned out will affect the rest) Take a look at all your fuses and make sure they are all ok. Otherwise you are probably looking at a wiring short which will require trouble shooting of the elctrical system. Buy your self a service manual for your bike, this will help you a lot.
