My ac works fine, but my heater has stopped working. It blows air but doesn't get warm. I went to a dealership and they told me it was the baffle air deflecter, and it would cost about $600 to fix. So i called another dealership for a quote and told them what was wrong and they can't even find the part on the parts listing. Have to wait til after Christmas for the other dealership to run their own diagnostics. So i was going to try something different until then. I found a heater i can plug into my cigarette lighter. The heater requires a 20 watt fuse and I think the one my my 2006 Equinox is a 10 watt. Is there a way i can change that?

NO. you may need a "temperature door actuator" thats a problem when the service people call it one thing and the parts people call it another. The first dealership should have given you a written quote, that way you would have part numbers, ect.

Air vent heater

Check the vacuum can on the ac box. It may just be a broken vacuum line or the can can be bad. There is a baffle in there that has to move from AC to heat. Sound likes there no vac getting to the baffle vacuum can. Could also be the switch in the dash board controller. Depends on what type of car it is.

2008 Jeep Liberty-My heater was barely warm-blowing fine tho. Was told I had a plugged heater core and needed a new one. Had a new heater core put in and then my air conditioner stopped blowing cold air....

I woild be checking the vent controls as if the ac is working and the core was blocked then the air would be cool when the heat was selected but not changing Fixing the heater has resulted in a /c not being good enough to cool the air if the vent is not properly selecting. The point is that if the vent selection is not working properly (vacuum hoses) then the 2 faults will be related.

Heater Core replacement

first, check the coolant level and add if its low..check for accidental ac turn-on at the controlls..then its an issue with the controls themselves provided the water pump is good..there are baffle doors that are controlled reemotely in the dash and one of these couldd be not functioning or blocked by debris like a penny sliding into the defrost vent will jam the door and keep it from working...check these and see...good luck..

Why does Ac blow warm air when I stop in Toyota sequoia?

The most likely culprit is the condenser fan not working. While driving, air is forced through the condenser fins cooling the condenser and all is fine, but when stopped and the fan is not blowing and you notice the air get warm.

CHECK THE AC AND HEATER CONTROL FUSE.MORE LIKELY FUSE BLOWED BECAUSE AC COMPRESSOR COULD HAVE FAILED IF LOW SIDE IS OVER 100 PSI. THE REED VALVE PLATE IN COMPRESSOR PROBABLY DAMAGED CAUSED COMPRESSOR FAILURE BLOWED THE HVAC CONTROLS FUSE. HAVE AC SHOP CHECK IT OUT.

My AC was running fine before winter, now it only blows air.

If the system is working properly and you are only getting warm air, there are 2 common causes.

1.Check the air mix door motor and wiring.

2. There could be a leak in the AC system. No refrigerant means no air conditioning.

AC/Heater control problem

In the dash there is a part called the blend door and blend door motor. This allows you to have warm air, and not just cold AC or hot heated air. This motor goes out and whatever position it "dies" in is what kind of air you get. The part is relatitively cheap but the labor cost is huge, because the dash needs to be removed for access.
