My rpms jump and then my car stalls.

My car has had a problem of quitting on me when I am at a red light or stop sign. It will restart, but then happens over and over. I had this problem fixed once, but it returned yesterday. It seems to hapen when it is hot out, rather than cold. I live in SF, which is usually pretty mild, but I am in LA and it is in the 90/100s. The car was looked at by a nissan dealer in the spring - the las time I got it fixed. I can't remember the technical terms. Have you heard of this before?

Car quit running at red light

Your no start condition is either lack of fuel(doubtful since it used to restart) or no spark. No spark could be from a failed crankshaft or camshaft sensor.

My 1994 buick regal gran sport jumps a lot when at a stop sign or red light, but when i accelerate the problem goes away. also when in park my RPM's drops extremely low and it sounds as if its goi

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

I have been having problems with my 1998 ford windstar 3.8L with rough idle and dying, i changed the mass air flow sensor, and air filter, ran gas treatment through it, and it hasn't helped, then yesterday...

I have a 98 Windstar and it would die when pulling up to a stop sign, slowing when coming to a stop or making a slow turn. According to Ford recall 98E03 EMISSIONS RECALL some vehicles may stall during deceleration when coming to a stop, during slow speed parking maneuvers and/or coasting thru slow sweeping turns. This may be caused by the Powertrain Contro lModule (PCM) calibration dropping the rpms too quickly during deceleration. This involves reprograming the PCM. The revised calibration will allow the engine rpms to drop slowly during low speed maneuvers to reduce the possibility of a stall. Call your local FORD dealership (have your VIN handy) and have them check to see if this recall has been performed on your vehicle.

does this model have an ETS on it? Electronic throttle system. I could need a new throttle body. Sometimes the software goes bad and it will give the symptoms you described.
