Re: Dash lights went out after hitting a bump, already...
Somewhere in your wiring you have a bad connection in either the power wire to your cluster or the overall ground. That is why you have the intermittent operation.

carefully unbolt the underhood fusebox assembly and turn it upsidedown there should be a plastic cover on the bottom remove it look for burnt wires inside be careful & buy a test light start moving wires around & see what happens
they have an issue with the instrument panel connectors, my 05 2500 hd has an intermittent problem where it goes dead and if you smack the dash or hit a bump driving it will reset. It got much better when I put an extra twist in the cable before connecting it. I also got a replacement cluster due to bad lights etc and it does the same as the old one,I think it's a loose pin, probably ground but haven't gotten around to fixing it. my 95 c 1500 did the same
Hi, Check your fuses an also b sure the line going to each is securely connected to the proper outlet/connector. Did you hit a bump or something to pull the wires lose? Sounds like you will need to check each fuse as well. Try turning the engine on - pull off the wire to the temperature sending unit and ground it to the engine - see if the gauge moves then. This can give you a good clue. Gary @ Fix Ya
Many times after hitting bumps or holes in the roads. Loose connection !
Do you know what a wiring diagram is ? Free wiring diagrams here
http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model and engine size. Under system click on lighting then under subsystem click on thing's your having problems with . See if they share a common grounding point or a connector in the wiring harness ,power supply etc.... Check by wiggling connections , wiring harness etc.. till you find were you can make the lights go on an off .
either the harness on the cluster is loose somehow... or a bulb ( hooked up in series?) is blown. Dash lights and tail lights are usually on the same fuse... so check and see if you have tail lights when next this happens.
