Why not , tell
year car
model car
and engine type or size

then post the ACTUAL DTC error code, not the interpretation.
and symptoms.?

if you had read the FSM , all this would be moot , as it tells you this.
my wild guess, is the crank sensor is bad.
or 2nd guess. cam sensor.
or 3rd guess. is the spark read back signal is dead.

the actual code, tells you on all cars, which of the it is.

Can I retrieve codes manually from a 95 bonneville

If it has OBD1 for a diagnostic system you can get the trouble codes by making the check engine light flash.
If it has OBD2 you'll need a scanner or code reader. Most auto parts stores will check OBD2 for free in hopes of selling you some parts.
You can do an internet search for OBD1 codes and see if the connector plug looks like yours. If it does you can use a paper clip to jumper two connectors and make the warning light flash.
1994 and 1995 were cross-over years when the car companies switched from OBD1 to OBD2 so each model switched at a different time.

How to test the obd codes

What is year--make--model? Generally 94 model year and older is obd1. 96 and newer is obd2, generally. 95 can be a cross-over year and could have a hybrid diagnostic connector.

Usually with obd2, you need an obd2 code reader. OBD1 you should be able to access some codes, yourself, w/o a code reader. Different makes can have different procedures for accessing codes/obd1.

1994 jeep cherokee obd1 is there a way to read the code without a reader

Yes OBD1 can be read without a reader. The CEL will blink to indicate the code to you. Do a google search to find the code.

Where on the 93 Dodge Dakota do I find the spot for the code reader? under hood or engine compartment?

That is an OBD1 System

Your code reader won't work

You need OBD1 capable reader or
the adapter for an older scan tool

The connector is in the engine compartment

If you need to know where, I will look in my
1992 manual as I departed with my Dakota
june last year.

If you get code I will look them up for you
or tell me the problem your having.

I think the connector is hanging near the
A/C expansion valve on pass side

WHY CAN'T I GET ANY CODES ON MY 1994 3.4 CAMARO USING A OBD1 CODE SCANNER? USING AN ACTRON CP9001 SCANNER. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON BUT DOES NOT FLASH. SCANNER WORKS FINE ON MY 1993 GMC SIERRA 4X4.

The only way those type of scanners will give you a code is if it is a hard code. When a check engine light is on, but doen's flash it is usually referring to an emission problem. A flashing light refers to misfire. Spark plugs, wire, etc. A snap on scanner or Genesis Scanner is able to look at perimeters inside the system which is a better approach when you don't have a hard code. Sometimes after the code is on long enough it will become a hard code and the type of scanner that you have will pull it. The thing that often happens is the EGR isn't circulating properly and you get an intermediate light and don't get a hard code for a while which leaves you in the dark. You might take your vehicle to a local service shop which uses a better scanner and they can look at what is going on and solve that problem.

1995 pontiac bonneville 3800 v6

P0321 Spark Reference Circuit. The spark reference signal is used by the PCM to improve ignition timing accuracy during crank and at engine speeds of up to 1,200 RPM. The spark reference circuit allows the use of ignition control mode below 400 RPM, eliminating the need to utilize module mode during start-up, and also allows the PCM to calculate true crankshaft position in 1/6 the time that use of the fuel control reference signal would permit. During normal operation, the PCM uses the spark reference signal to control ignition timing until the engine speed exceeds 1200 RPM, at which time the fuel control reference signal is used. There is no connection to the TCS.
If everything checks ok then the PCM is defective PCM.
