Should be fine after a while. if not just change a plug see if that makes any difference. i highly doubt that you can get to the distributer to see if any water may have been splashed in it. but if you can mark it on the lid and the mount and pop it off.

Car does not shift to 1st gear after being flooded.

Since you said that you drove through water paddle surely water splashed into the engine compartment, where the main wiring plug of the automatic gear box is. You c\n find it easy is between the radiator fan and the gear box on the top of the gear box. Disconnect it and use a contact cleaner spray by spraying into the connectors both faces.

My van was sitting for a week while i went on vacation when i came home i drove it to get two new tires on the back drove it on the highway for about four miles and parked it went out about three hours...

If you had white smoke then you have a blown head gasket. Even though it hasnt yet mixed with the oil you are still having the white smoke. Is there any water left in the radiator or reservoir?

Drove the van through water, parked turned it off. Went to start the car 1 1/2 hours later, it won't start. Plenty of battery power, no spark.

sometimes water can collect or condense inside the distributor cap and prevent starting. It's happened to me more than once. If it won't even turn over you may have hydro-locked the engine by sucking water through the intake but you didn't mention that important tidbit I'm guessing it does turn.

01 grand am stalled in water now won t start

the engine may have ingested some water through the exhaust. pull the spark plugs and check to see if there is any water in the cylinders, also you need to change your oil as water may have gotten into it.

No Power sometime, Engine Light is Flashing

If fuel filter hasn't been done lately I would start there & if you can, have fuel pressure tested while your at it. You may have tired fuel pump but pressure test will confirm. If you recently filled up somewhere different last time you got gas, I'd also try some "Heet" or similar just incase you got a tank full with some water in it.
