Side View Mirror Wiring

Snapped the side view mirror off of car, bought a replacement and took off the old one. However, the plastic connector is a male conector and the car needs a female connector. Called the auto parts store, there is nothing they can do to help me. Told me to try and find the wiring schematics and clip the plastic connector off my old mirror and attach to new one with wire nuts. Does anyone know which wires to connect to which? Currently the old mirror is red on the outside, black in the middle, than a mix of black/white on the outside of that. The new mirror is blue on the outside, white in the middle, and yellow again on the outside. Any help would be appreciated.

I can help you with this problem, but I'm going to need a little more input from you. Please give me the make, model and year of your vehicle. As well I need to know if it is the passenger side or driver side mirror, and whether it is heated or not, please. Finally it would help me to help you if I knew where you bought the mirror from and what brand it is. Also, if you could tell me if the male connector on the vehicle and the male connector on the mirror are the exact same shape and have the same alignment of the pin receptacles. I know, sounds like a lot, but I should have no problem giving you some help with this once you get me that information. Thanks in advance, and let's get this thing fixed, or sweat hard trying!

Just try matching from the outside to the outside, middle to middle, etc. or use a continuity tester against each pair until the light up. Solder the wires, do not use wire nuts.

SOURCE: INSTALL SIDE VIEW MIRROR ON A 1997 TOYOTA CAMRY

Yes, you have to remove the door panel.

Remove the 2 plastic protectors on the front edge, and remove the 2 brass colored screws. Next, remove the push pins from the latch side. Push in, and pull out the whole thing. Next, under the armrest, remove the screw. Lift up the power windoe control, being careful to not break the plastic retainer tab. Remove the screw under the window control. Starting at the bottom, pull out the panel, and, when all of the clips are loose, pull the panel straight up. It is best to do this with the door panel as warm as possible, like in a heated garage. Doing this outside in the cold will break all of the plastic retainer clips; they are quite brittle whn cold.

I hope this helps

Thanks for choosing FIxYa for assistance. A FIxYa rating (4 blue diamonds) would be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to replace the glass, but I believe it is glued in place. You should be able to tell as you remove the old pieces. It is a special white glue.
I was able to get a great price for the whole mirror on ebay. even the ones with signals and heated.

Hope this helps

Side Mirrors will adjust side to side but not up and down.

There are two tiny motors in each mirror. one for up/down. One for side to side. They have jack screws (plastic) that fit into the motors.

You can manually put your hands on either side of the mirror and force adjust it. If you hear a ratcheting sound, the jack screws are OK. Then repeat with hands on top and bottom.

If you hear ratcheting and mirror stays where you stop it, that means one of the motors is bad. The motor assembly is available as a separate part.
