It is of course a manual box? When trying to move off in 1st gear, does the engine rev up, but the car moves slowly?

If so, the clutch is worn out.

If the engine sounds normal but the car lacks power, there is a long list of possible causes, and the first thing to do there is to try to extract a trouble code from the ECM. Depending on where you are, you may need to find someone with a scanner.

Is the check engine light flashing? This will indicate a code is stored.

Auto transmission slow to change gear when cold ok hot.

When an automatic transmission is slow to change gears when cold, it is usually due to low transmission fluid levels or fluid that has become thick and sludgy due to a lack of maintenance. It is important to check the transmission fluid level and condition regularly, as low transmission fluid and dirty fluid can cause transmission issues such as slow gear shifts and slipping gears. Additionally, low levels of transmission fluid can also cause the transmission to overheat and fail. If the transmission fluid is in good condition, then the issue may be caused by a faulty transmission solenoid or a worn out clutch. In this case, it is best to take the vehicle to a qualified mechanic to diagnose and repair the issue.

It does not slow actually , in the process of shifting gears it ( gear box) momentarily stop transmitting power to drive axle.

1992 Honda Accord LX Automatic stuck in drive, slow to go.

You have an internal transmission failure, have a transmission repair shop look at this and be prepared to have it removed for repair and rebuilding.

What gear should i drive in snow and ice

Depends, do you have 4 wheel drive? If so you can just use 4 wheel high, or if things get really slippery, use 4 wheel low and go slow, both in the drive position on the transmission shifter.

If 2wd, just use drive and go slow, again, if it gets slippery out, you can shift down in gears to go slower and to keep your speed slow.

If you're talking about snow and ice on just streets, then stick with 4 wheel high with 4x4, or "drive" in 2wd. You typically don't want to switch to 3,2, or 1st gear at highway speeds.

If you're playing in the snow, just use 4x4 high until you get stuck, then switch to 4 low to get out.

The only time I switch gears with the transmission (from drive to 3,2, or 1) is when I want to go really slow and keep it there. However, when I "play" in the snow, it's Drive only.
