It may be touching in the back of the tv on a power point. Yours is doing the same thing mine did before it finely all most burnt up it self and my house The metal casting that the tv mounts on in the tv ,does not have enough room in it. the metal casing touches one of the power supplys in the back and shorts out. The problem can be in the backlight inverter board (hard to get to), or the main power supply module may not be working. Look at the power supply first since it is easy to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors.

The video IC module seems to be giving problems. Open the back cover and take a peep inside. Look for the module just short of the screen. replace it if need be.

I have one of these wonderful units. Most common failure is power supply. There are three capacitors that tend to fail early and often.

New PS board is around $200 and a guy on ebay has a repair service just for Philips LCD TV power supplies for $99 (you know it's a common problem when there are whole businesses being created to fix the problem).

Also on ebay you can buy a philips LCD TV 'power supply repair kit' for under $20 which has replacements for the cruddy parts that philips put in at the factory.

The number of blinks of the LED are actually a blink-code, which, while typically wrong, is supposed to help point out where the problem is. Most common flashes are 4 based on limited googling on the problem.

There are a few power supplies listed. I am not familiar with your specific model but if you open it up you will probably find that the power supply has blown capacitors.

there should be other inputs like S-Video or HDMI. To convert the signal-go to E-BAY and type in "RCA to HDMI"(for example). Got my converter cable there for $5.00 while RADIO SHACK wanted $30.00!

The TV was turn ON for the first time or the TV reboot/reset.
Universal remotes are not as "universal" as we like them to be. They only control a very, small amount of options for the TV.

The screen is the most expensive part of the TV alone.
The cheapest new replacement screen will be about $300 at Shopjimmy.com, but they are currently out of stock right now.
Paying someone to replace it will cost more that the TV is worth.You maybe talking about well over $800 for someone to find a screen and do the work.

Check the internet connection. The television can't update if it can't see the internet. Resetting it breaks the previous settings. Just for fun, reboot the router as well and wait 15 minutes until all the lights come back on. Then reestablish the television connection to the router. That sounds like it has a backlight fault. A good TV engineer can possibly repair that for you.
