I own a DMR57LFS and it will not shut off and will not drain. The water inside is now stagnant and horrible smelling. Is there instructions on how to remove the lower arm and assembly so that I can vacuum out the water? I have extended warrenty but it will take several days for the repairman to come out and the smell is about to run me out of the house...

Check the drain. It SHOULD stand about as high as the washer, behind it, and it SHOULD have a trap below the floor (basement?).

If the drain's good and the trap is fine, then the pump could be borderline - it it doesn't pump all the water out, some water remaining in the washer may become stagnant and smell funky.

Your local home depot sells a product called AFFRESH that is made for front loaders to clean mold as well as stagnant water smells from washing machines. I have also hear other techs suggest vinegar and water but personally I would much rather have the unit smelling nice and flowery smell instead of a vinegary smell. Also it is important to note your drain line should be at least 6" higher then the top of your washer if it were less then the water that is supposed to leave the machine goes back inside the machine thus giveing some a stagnant water smell or like bad eggs.If you have any further questions message me back

The smell usually comes when the washer is unable to drain water completely, you can run your washer at its hottest temperature setting with 1 cup of vinegar inside the unit. After this take off the bottom front panel and clean it completely, also clean the drain hose and drain pump filter, the smell should disappear after doing all this. at home depot they sell a product called affresh it cleans the inside of your dishwasher from stagnant water smells also check around the area of your chopper sometimes as chopper gets dulled food can build up in that area they also sell an affresh type for washermachines this is a great product for both types of units

There's usually about a gallon of residual water in the lower portion of the wash tub, drain line and pump between wash loads. This is NORMAL. If you are in the habit of leaving the door closed between washes, this water can become stagnant. Odors can also be caused by using the wrong type of detergent, causing soap scum build up, and from small articles of clothing caught in the rubber folds of the door bellow, or in the drain lines. Read through the link provided and let me know if you still have problems. I personally own a front loader and have followed this regiment for 9 years now with no odor or mildew problems. The filter on your pump is probably clogged with lint and stuff. You have to remove the bottom front panel, 3 torx screws underneath. The panel will drop and come off. Drain off the excess water from the hose you see. The white filter cover is right in front. Get yourself a bunch of towels or a good big plastic bag to collect water. Unscrew the filter cover and twist the filter out. Clean out all the stuff and put it back in carefully.

Next: You can use Affresh to clean your front loader. Deposits of soap and other such things can be stuck around the inside tub of your washer. Try this product, it works great on all front loaders. Use hot water with the Affresh pellet with no clothes and run the machine through a cycle. Also helps with any stagnant water smells. Have you cleaned out your pump lately. Put the pellet inside the machine, not in the soap dispenser.

Has anything spoiled in there ? anything spilled - Make sure you clean the inside look for any stains or residues.

Remove your cirsper drawers and look for any stagnant water or mildew there - sometimes when defrost drain is plugged up and water drips at the back, it ends up below there and will create mildew over time.

Once you've located and cleaned the interior use a box of baking sode, open the lid and keep in fridge.

what kind of supply line is gong to the unit,, if it is plastic change it to copper,, copper doesn't keep the sediments stuck to it, which will make it smell,,
