Hookup Audio to new Samsung 52"1080 TV LN52A650

Exactly how do hook my audio (5 spearkers) from the TX-DS575 to the Samsung LN52A650. What cables do I need?

I have access to both user manuals (the TX-DS575, and the LN52A659). It is not clear to me exactly what is required to hook these 2 units together. That is why I just paid $9 as opposed to posting (free) to your forum. To get a rely to read the manul is certainly not woryth $9. Please look at both manuals & give me solid advice on how to conned them together.

OK, if I understand it - use an optical cable and run it from the TV's Digital Audio Out (Optical) jack to Digital Optical1 input jack on the TS-DS575. Correct?

If I also want to run a DVD player thru the TS-DS575, I would have another optical cable from the DVD player to Digital Optical2.

    Is this correct?

If you want to connect DVD Player with Receiver, Audio connections depends on options available on both units. If DVD Player has digital optical out, then its fine and you can use Left-Right audio out RCA pins as well to connect it to receiver.

Hookup the comcast hd box to my new lcd tv?

You can use either component (Red/Green/Blue video and red/white audio) or HDMI cables to connect the Comcast HD box to your TV. Most times you can get these cables for free at the Comcast front counter.

Hook cable box to this receiver

I have similar situation with my TXDS 565 and could not video out of my unit after hooking up the cables properly in and out of the unit for all auxilary modules... I assume that you have tried to place your vid IN from the cable box to your units vid IN and run a vid OUT cable or S cable to your TV. If this doesn't work for you as it did not for me, then you must run your cable direct to the TV vid IN and run your audio out from the TV audio Out back to your reciever as audio IN in the Video I or II ports on the reciever unit. This will give you audio control through the rec. unit.

I suspect that my is damaged and will not function properly; yours may be too,

My unit is about 10 years old and repair is too expensive so I will run it this way until something else fails and I will replace it... probably not Onkyo.,'

Let me know if I clearify any of this.

Suggestions to hook up HDMI cables

I'd suggest running all HDMI.  I believe your receiver has 2 HDMI in's and one out.  Run the out to your TV and run the components to the inputs on the receiver.  This way the receiver will control the video.  Works good for me!  Hope this helps!
