SOURCE: lcx-15ct (gps module not responding)
Before you give up on the LGC-12S you have now though, try plugging the LGC-12S right into the LCX-15CT without an extension cable. If the module not responding goes away...you just need a new extension (GPSX-25G p/n 99-46).
The power cable has a set of yellow, blue, orange, and bare data wires. If these wires short together, you can get the module not responding error.
If all that doesn't help...the LGC-12S is bad.
The LGC-12W p/n 112-06 will work with the LCX-15CT. You probably get
this at many marine electronics dealers or go to lei-extras.com and buy
it straight from Lowrance. They cost $229 so you might want to shop
around putting that money into a whole new system altogether.
Make sure you have the latest software updates if you get the newer LGC-12W. These can be downloaded at http://www.lowrance.com/en/Downloads/Product-Software-Updates/
Let me know if you need more help.
SOURCE: I get a message on the screen of my LCX-15MT
To get the updates, start with a blank card. The first time you use it you will plug it into the card reader. It may ask you to format here. If so click "OK". If not: Go to "My Computer" - it will show up there as a storage device. Right click and select format. It will in effect "erase" the card and "prep" it for further use.
Follow the prompts. When done you should be able to go to the site you wish to download from and when you click on the file it will ask if you want to save it. "Yes" to your "Desktop". Once done you can open "my computer" - double click on the card reader. It will open with nothing in it. Reduce the screen pic for the reader so you can also see your desktop. Put cursor on desktop file - Right click and hold the button down while you drag the file to the card reader file and let go of the button. Click "Copy Here". Now you should be able to take the card and insert it into the display to run the actual update.

Welcome to FixYa!
Standard MMC card will fit in to your GPS receiver. The manufacturer recommends 8MB or 16MB capacity only which is I believe is for efficiency purposes. If I am not mistaken, the lowest capacity MMC card available today is 128MB and I think you should go for it.
Yes you do need to have the MMC card when taking pictures since your device does not have internal memory for pictures.
You also need the MMC card for storing Maps and other data.
Here's a sample picture of the MMC Card.
Here's how to place the MMC card in to your GPS.
Thank you for using FixYa.
Have a great day.
