Samsung Digimax V3 - no start-up sound

The camera lens is jammed, caused by dirt or worn out gears. a camera technician would be solution but not cheap, or you can take matters in your own hands and try a risky trick "NOT RECOMMENDED" take the palm of your hand and sharply hit it around the lens housing and applying power as you do so in an effort to get lens to retract, if you are lucky it will work or make things worse.

I've got the same problem, didnt notice it working on XP though, i'm on vista and became really dissapointed when i discovered the lack of audio on the videos... think im about to throw this camera out the window.

u might want to try and put a coffee filter over your flash when you take pictures to make the flash less bright. it sounds really silly but it actually works.

The power compensator IC is bad along with most likley the main board. This is going to be an expensive repair. If the warranty expired in January, and you were in touch with them about then and they did nothing, you should try to fight with them. They may send out a repair person to get your set working again. Another possibility would be, if you have homew owners insurance and a tech can say that the problem was due to a power surge, the insurance will take care of part of the repair bill. Good Luck

I have V3 and I had the same problem with the power. V3 just sems to be too power demanding... The solution for me was to get the Powerpack for V3 and V4 which is supplied separately from the camera. It includes a Li-On battery, a charger, an AC adapter and a cigar jack for the car. Samsung claim that with this batery you will be able to take 280 shots.
