I have a Mitsu ~ HDTV 1080 #65511 all the colors are out of wack. I can not find a place to align them and no longer have the manual ..

you moved this set huh? alignment is out, magnets slid out of place on align coils the a convergance alignment preformed (sometimes u get lucky and the coils can be put back perfect and then no alignment needed)

Aging eletrolytic capacitors cannot hold the voltages necessary to keep the color guns in alignment. This is NOT a problem you can fix yourself. The are DANGEROUS high voltages inside your TV which can persist for WEEKS after the set is off.
You must call a qualified service technican for repair.

Blue background lines with colors otherwise OK may be a loose or dirty blur drive potentiometer on small circuit board behind front grille and beneath front imerboard cover. These are hot-glued in place from factory but may be the cause f the problem. They're VERY sensitive.

If you have bowed blue lines instead of properly aligned colors, you probably have a blown convergence amplifier IC. These boards are no longer available so yours will have to be repaired. Some shops repair them but many send them out for 6-10 weeks. Fairly expensive too considering the amplifier chips are about $35 each (x2).

I have a 2005 73" dlp . Your light engine is going bad ! soon you will have a pyschadilic light show then total failure. I've replaced 3, Mitsu paid for all of them. But its getting very old.....I'm about to replace a fourth as soon as i can get it scheduled. Don't wait too long to order it . it can take up to 3months to get it.

You need new convergence amp ICs there are two of them replace both. They cost around 10.00 each.

replace the ics

1)Replacement requires skilled soldering technique.

2)The IC's are on the largest heatsink on the chassis.

   Chassis will need to come out==skill and/or experience needed.

3) Possible bad fuse device in power supply,check any/all.

4) Re-check alignment.

 

PS.Name brand IC's last longer than generics.

no you did the right move but now you align the new pc board ,try to get the service in to enter the convergence alignment section,on most jvc;s it sleep timer ,disply&video status to enter try it but if your not sure of that you can perform the alignment ask a tech to do it. on the remote certain keys do special functions and you need to know what they do or you might make it worse.

It sounds to me like the convergence amps themselves have failed. Ic7001 and Ic7002, both are STK392-110 Sanyo built Ic's and not an expensive job for a qualified shop. When shopping around for a shop to repair it ask what they charge for replacement of the convergence amps in this unit. And take the unit to them to save pickup and delivery charges...
