JVC AV-48wp74 Red, Blue, Green

I had a problem with my TV colors not lining up. One day I turned it on and the green was out of wack. I checked this message board and replaced the STK chips, bad soldering and all led to me just giving up on that and buying a whole new Convergence Board ($185). I just plugged this in and though now my Green lines up okay, my red is out of whack. Is there something I am doing wrong? Can anyone help me? Did i miss a step? Frustrated......Bruce [email protected]

No you did the right move but now you align the new pc board ,try to get the service in to enter the convergence alignment section,on most jvc;s it sleep timer ,disply&video status to enter try it but if your not sure of that you can perform the alignment ask a tech to do it. on the remote certain keys do special functions and you need to know what they do or you might make it worse.

Jvc av-48wp74 48 in widescreen green projector problem

Projection TV sets have two very common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Green Convergence out of wack

you got me stumped now. IC? Usually all components that make a video card work are made in the video card itself. You usually have to replace the video card unless you are a electronic specialists and have the tools to soder certain parts in and out of the board. Check n see how much a video card is for your unit. Might be fairly inexpensive. Wish I could help you more. Let me know the outcome.
