You didn't state the precise model, but if it's a cold-fill only machine (most Zanussi models are) and if it uses condensation drying like most, then a cold water supply is essential for the latter to work.

Many owners connect such machines to the hot supply in the mistaken belief that it will make the machine cheaper to run, but unless they have free hot water (solar heating?) then it's usually a falsehood and the trade-off is incomplete or non-existent drying.

The dishwasher runs through it's cycle but does not clean the dishes properly and leaves a cloudy film and smears on the inside of the machine and the dishes

    Common Problem
  1. Confirm the wash water is hot
    1. Try heated wash(sani wash) if available
    2. Run hot water in sink to warm up before starting
    3. At least 120 degree Fahrenheit water temperature
  2. Open door check wash arm position start washer for a minute
    1. Confirm wash arm has rotated
    2. Check for plugged spray tips at either end of wash arm.
    3. Use small tweezers to remove
    4. Check for rack and dishes interfering with arm rotation
  3. Place cup in upper rack with opening up cycle washer.
    1. Confirm that cup quickly fills with water
    2. Not washing check water level in tub mim 1 1/2 inch
  4. Discontinue use of rinse/dry liquid additive.
    1. Confirm rinse/dry additive not leaking from dispenser into tub
    2. Washer detergent contains sparkle additive and too much sparkle/rinses/dry additive will coat dishes
    3. Try alternative wash detergent that contains minimal rinse/dry additive and use without liquid rinse/dry additive.
  5. It will take several wash cycles after the elimination of rinse/dry to purge the oily film from dishes and machine..
  6. If success "joy" is achieved with no additives then cautiously add back wash detergent with additives. Additives are important to facilitate drying and protecting the glassware china from leaching. The leaching process permanently etches the surface of glassware leaving a cloudy appearance.

Dishes not clean after running. Dishes and glasses have a white residue on them after drying. Water is turned on and seems to ok. When I open the washer after the wash cycle starts there are several...

Hi

If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound.

If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve. Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete. Try cleaning the spray arm with a soft brush. The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more informatiion.

Just washing, not drying and cleaning. watter was not draining

Sounds like your drain is clogged. The drain should be located just below the blades inside the dish washer when you pull the lower rack out. If you can clean it from the top end, that could be a simply fix. Otherwise you'll need to pull the dish washer out and clean the drain from the bottom.

Also, check your Blower Fan to make sure it is still running.

Model # dwu7702aae has heat delay light coming on during cycle. Why?

Heater is used to both heat water during clean cycle and dry dishes after wash cycle. Most washers have either a separate switch for Heat or Dry for optional use, or some have the water heat and dish dry options built into cycle set options.

You can save money by turning off the Dish Dry option since it is a very in-efficient way to dry dishes. Instead, open the wishwasher door after washing cycle completes, just enough so fresh air can get into, and humid air can escape, dishwasher.

Water Heat option is only needed for dried food on dishes, and is never needed if dishes are either rised off before putting them in the dishwasher, or rinsed off inside the dishwaser with a Rinse cycle, if they are to stand for a time waiting for a full dishwasher for wash.

Not cleaning dishes

Our Bosch does a pretty good job of washing dishes. But we rinse most of the time. Not a hard rinse, but a rinse.

Are both spray bars rotating? You can test by seeing that the bars rotate easily by hand, and also by starting a cycle and opening the door real quick when you hear the spray hit the door.

Make sure the spray bar nozzles are all clear.

Has it ever done a good job of cleaning dishes?

DI you leave a heavy build-up of food on the dishes, and allow it to dry before washing?

Turning on dishwasher

although the light may be a true indication of a pending problem, try this test: Find the circuit breaker and switch it off to remove power to washer for 30 minutes. Then power back up. Any changes? If light still on, then threat of trouble is real and must be fixed. Not sure what to CLEAN, though. Search for manual online...I'm sure Kenmore put that light on for a real purpose.
