Lin, the air intake filter may need cleaning and the water collection bucket may have a mold and mildew buildup. Cleaning both things, may solve the smelly problem.

KENMORE DEHUMDIFIER MODEL 580.51300100 DOES NOT RUN, NO POWER LIGHT AND NO FAN RUNNING ETC

First, check the source of the power to the unit, Has a circuit breaker in your home's circuit breaker panel been tripped? If so, unplug the unit, before resetting the circuit breaker. If that's not the case, check the outlet it's plugged into. It may be damaged or have a loose wiring connection. Be sure to turn the circuit breaker for that receptacle OFF, before removing the cover plate.

If all of the above checks out OK, check the water collection bucket, as it may need to be emptied and/or the bucket was not reinstalled properly or the float valve in the top of the bucket is stuck in the UP position, If so, jiggle the arm of the float valve to get to return to the DOWN position.

When reinstalling the bucket, be sure that it fits "squarely" into it's holder and makes firm contact with the bucket safety removal switch.

I hope this helps you to troubleshoot & solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Dehumdifier not collecting water.

It may be that the humidity level or temperature in the room where your dehumidifier is located is too low.

When the outdoor temperature is below 50 F, the indoor air will be dry even when the air inside is warm, therefore when it's cold outside the dehumidifier may collect little or no water.

Air conditioners will also remove moisture from the room, even if it's hot and humid outside, resulting in little or no moisture collecting in the dehumidifier bucket.

Some dehumidifiers have a deicer which turns off the compressor but keeps the fan running. When the compressor is off, moisture is not removed from the air. The deicer turns off the compressor when the room temperature is cold.

Some dehumidifiers do not have a deicer. If the room temperature is low enough, ice may form on the evaporator coil. The ice prevents the dehumidifier from removing and collecting water. If ice forms on coils, unplug dehumidifier until ice melts and room temperature rises.

The filter (on some models) may be dirty or clogged. If so, clean the filter. For instructions on cleaning the filter.

I hope this help to solve, if this answer solve it, remember to rate it. Good luck.

Tank fills up but connected to hose FDL70S1

I had the same problem. It seems that you need to add another hose washer to the drain hose that connects to the dehumdifier. I wasn't able to tighten it enough by hand to keep it from leaking. BE CAREFUL ! ! The plastic connector in the dehumdifier is just that PLASTIC so don't try to overtighten with a pliers, etc... I still get a minimal amount of water in the bucket but only have to dump every 4-6 weeks, if even that.

Goldstar Dehumdifier - draining through hose not working

Check the connection where you attached the hose. It may be plugged or covered by a plastic film from when it was molded.

Delonghi Dehumidifier E! error

I Had an E error (not an E1 error) when I was fiddling with my humidity/temp sensor on the face of the radiator fins (behind air filter).  The sensor was WET.  I dabbed it dry, let it sit all day, and re-assembled.  It works fine now.

Connecting a drain hose

Most units have a drain connection, either on the machine itself, or in the collection pail. These connections usually fit standard garden hoses.
