I have a Asus p5b-mx wifi ap motherboard and an intel Core 2 Duo E7500 CPU. The bios of the motherboard did not recognise the CPU properly. System can not continue to boot until F1 is pushed from Keyboard. I update the bios to latest of the Asus download site. Nothing changed. How can I let bios recognise my cpu properly?

The bios needs to load a patch table that supports your processor. Go to the ASUS website and ensure that processor capatibility with your MB, and if there is a BIOS update for it.

The problem - I guess - is that this CPU is not recognised correctly by the board. To solve it, just update to the latest BIOS, using either AsusUpdate or manually from www.asus.com

Make sure all Vista updates have been installed, and check the ASUS website for any bios updates. I believe that motherboard had a known issue with stand bye.

HI,

The only Thing To Do, is view both Motherboards, user Manuals.
To see The boards CPU Support List.
It could be to do with, certain Motherboards Supporting, certain CPUs.
I.e a 533mhz cpu, would not run on a Motherboard that supports 400mhz. The Systems Bios, May cause Other Problems.
If your getting a Black Screen, is it a possible Graphics/Ram Problem, Rather Than The CPU ??

Help!

Have you installed RAM? If not the machine will not boot. You may also need to enter the BIOS setup to set the CPU and DRAM voltages and multiplyers etc. Follow the instructions in the manual for setting up the CPU info in the BIOS. Are you sure your PSU has enough guts to run the setup? Many times have i seen setups fail because a cheap power supply has been overstretched.
