If i press the f key the file key opens. the same with e, v, s, b etc.. I press a key and something else happens. most of keys are malfunctioning. the most common thing it does is jump to the file at the top of the screen.

Your ALT key (at least one of them) is stuck.
Clean the keyboard, and/or repeatedly press the ALT keys until this action is rectified.
Do the same with the CTRL keys too for good measure.

Hi. Thanks but it didn't work. Now my w key would go off without me touching it and when i do press it, it don't work. Also my mouse pad don't always work. I would have to hit the space bar to get it to work. Help!!

  • Anonymous Jun 26, 2011

It honestly sounds like something was spilled into the keyboard.
If you or someone you know has experience repairing notebooks, remove the keyboard and attach an external keyboard. If the external keyboard works fine, (you may even be able to do this without disconnecting the internal one) then I would highly suspect the internal keyboard has suffered damage due to a spill or impact. The cheap fix of course at that point is to use an external keyboard. There are great portable fold up / roll up keyboards out there. The proper fix of course would be replacing the keyboard. For testing purposes though, USB keyboards can be had for under $10 or borrowed from a friend.

Same for the mouse, try an external one.

  • Anonymous Jun 26, 2011

OK, and I'll look into where you might get replacement keyboards and the cost.

  • Anonymous Jun 26, 2011

You can get a replacement keyboard herehttp://www.batterycentury.com/asus-eee-p... for $60. There will be small clips holding the keyboard in above the top row of keys. pry the keyboard up by putting something like a small screwdriver in at the clip points and prying up on the aluminum keyboard base. There will be a clip holding the keyboard ribbon in place. The clip needs to be released before removing the keyboard flat cable, and needs to be open during the insertion of the new cable and then locked again once the cable is in place. The new keyboard goes in the reverse way of removing the old one...the clips below the spacebar need to be inserted with the keyboard on about a 45 deg. angle, then the top of the keyboard pushed into place til it clicks and locks in.

Please see attached photo, this is what's

what are you trying to do ?
a bit more information might be able to help you.
IE: what are you doing when this (pop up) occurs ?
and why are striking the F1 or F2 keys ?

Computer keyboards contain keys that, when pressed on their own or in conjunction with another key, provide shortcuts to performing functions, saving time and keystrokes.
On most keyboards, these are the function, or "F," keys that run along the top of the keyboard. "F1" and "F2" are members of this group.
F1 Function Key

Pressing the "F1" function key while you are in an application will bring up the application's help file.
Pressing it when you are not in Windows Explorer or on the desktop produces the "Windows Help" file.
If you are in an application and press the "F1" button along with the Windows button, you will get the "Windows Help" file.

F1 Function Key Combined With Other Keys
"F1" can be pressed with other keys to gain a variety of results and functions.
Press "F1" and the "Shift" key to start context sensitive help, or help for the application.
Use the "F1" key with "Alt" to go to the next field in an application.
Press "F1," "Shift" and "Alt" at the same time to return to the previous field in an application.
To display the Microsoft system information, press "Ctrl," "Alt" and "F1" at the same time.

F2 Function Key Clicking on an icon on your desktop and pressing the "F2" function key will put the icon into rename mode in the same way as right-clicking on the icon and scrolling to "Rename."
F2 Function Key Combined With Other Keys
"F2" when pressed with other keys combines functions commonly found in the application "File" and "Edit" menus.
To copy selected text, highlight the text and press "Shift" with "F2."
To view a print preview of a document, press "Ctrl" with "F2" when in a document.
To save a document, press "Alt," "Shift" and "F2 together when in the application.
To choose the open file command, press "Ctrl," "Alt" and "F2."

When I press "print Scrn" nothing happens

Pressing the "PrintScrn" will not happen anything, but the mouse cursor may blink once. You'll not see the clipboard but it would be captured to the Ram memory, i.e. the screen is captured virtually which isn't visible to you, you'll only be able to save the captured screenshots with a photo editing program (eg. Paint, Photoshop) or text editor like Microsoft word, etc...

After pressing the "PrintScrn", open the "Paint" and paste, i.e. right click anywhere on a blank document and "Paste". You can also do "Paste" on microsoft word blank document or etc... If you wish to save the screen shot, you have to save the file as Jpeg or Gif or Bitmap etc...

Here's a tutorial for you.. (Click Here)

And here's more information about Print Screen Key (Click Here)

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

My key does not open or lock my doors remotely had key checked and is sending a signal but still not working

You do not say what year your car is, here is standard programming for most bmw,s,after battery or key replacement or malfunction.
Unlock car, enter, make sure all doors boot etc are closed.
Switch ignition on and off, remove key.
PRESS AND HOLD unlock button.
Press lock button 3 times in 10 seconds
Release unlock button
Some models led flashes in key for 10 seconds
Later keys central locking will lock unlock rapidly to confirm reset.
Later keys without led has no battery replacement,as it charges as you drive. So if you have this type charge before reprogramming

From the description of your problem it seems that your Windows-Key is stuck. Win+D minimizes all windows, Win+R opens the RUN command.

It is a known bug in Windows (often with the Ctrl or Shift key), but Microsoft has not released a solution. If it happens again, try this as a work-around:
  1. Open your 'On-Screen' keyboard, which you can find in Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Accessibility.
  2. Press the 'on screen' Windows key.
If that happens a lot, then go again to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories, Right-Click "Accessories" and choose "Open". While holding down the Ctrl-key, drag the On-Screen icon on your desktop. (Holding the Ctrl-key creates a copy without removing the original file). Now you have a shortcut on the desktop, which is easier to click than going through the menus.

And don't forget - there is always the option that there is something stuck underneath the key itself (dust or dirt usually). If your keyboard is exposed to that kind of things, you might want to pry that key off (carefully!!!) and clean your keyboard.
