Your ALT key (at least one of them) is stuck.
Clean the keyboard, and/or repeatedly press the ALT keys until this action is rectified.
Do the same with the CTRL keys too for good measure.
Hi. Thanks but it didn't work. Now my w key would go off without me touching it and when i do press it, it don't work. Also my mouse pad don't always work. I would have to hit the space bar to get it to work. Help!!
It honestly sounds like something was spilled into the keyboard.
If you or someone you know has experience repairing notebooks, remove the keyboard and attach an external keyboard. If the external keyboard works fine, (you may even be able to do this without disconnecting the internal one) then I would highly suspect the internal keyboard has suffered damage due to a spill or impact. The cheap fix of course at that point is to use an external keyboard. There are great portable fold up / roll up keyboards out there. The proper fix of course would be replacing the keyboard. For testing purposes though, USB keyboards can be had for under $10 or borrowed from a friend.
Same for the mouse, try an external one.
OK, and I'll look into where you might get replacement keyboards and the cost.
You can get a replacement keyboard herehttp://www.batterycentury.com/asus-eee-p... for $60. There will be small clips holding the keyboard in above the top row of keys. pry the keyboard up by putting something like a small screwdriver in at the clip points and prying up on the aluminum keyboard base. There will be a clip holding the keyboard ribbon in place. The clip needs to be released before removing the keyboard flat cable, and needs to be open during the insertion of the new cable and then locked again once the cable is in place. The new keyboard goes in the reverse way of removing the old one...the clips below the spacebar need to be inserted with the keyboard on about a 45 deg. angle, then the top of the keyboard pushed into place til it clicks and locks in.
here's a keyboard for $39http://www.laptopzparts.com/replacement-...
