Camera says no memory after taking only 4 pics.

I'm new at the digital camera thing. Optional memory card available. After taking 4 pictures with no card it says no memory available. Does this camera only take 4 pictures??? I plan to get a memory card but I thought it would be able to take more than that without one.

Camera has built-in memory but its small in capacity. Buy new memory card and install it in camera slot and memory card will hold more picture data. Regarding pictures quantity, it depends what size of memory card like...1GB, 2GB etc. greater size, more storage.

My pictures say unrrecognized file format. why? it is also not on every picture

Is the camera or memory card new? you may have to format your memory card. unfortunately all the pictures on it will be erased, but its the only thing that will let you take pics and save all of them. I found this out when i got my new camera. I used an old memory card and had to format it.

You didn't tell me what camera make or model but as a rule you can not download pictures from the internal memory. What needs to be done is check make sure the memory card I'm going to assume is an SD card is in the unlock position. I'll give you a generic diagram so you can see what it is I'm talking about. Then the memory card needs to be formatted not delete, it needs to be formatted to the camera so the camera and the card can communicate between each other. Once that is down then you should be able to go into the set up menu and transfer the internal memory pictures to the memory card. Some cameras this has to be done one at a time others will have an "all" feature make sure your camera has sufficient battery because this could take a few minutes (2 or 3) depending on how large the internal memory is and how many pictures. If the process is interrupted because of battery failure then well, that's not good because you could loose all the pictures and the camera programing may become corrupt. Just make sure the batteries are full charge and you are good to go. Some cameras have an optional AC adapter to plug into wall power Okay back to the download once the pictures are on the memory card they can be downloaded to the computer in your usual manner. Okay once that is done reformat the memory card and you are good to go with a fresh memory card. The camera will automatically use the memory card when installed and formatted to the camera.

If you are using a memory card, take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. This is to reduce the chance of you overwriting some of your "lost" photos. There are many good freeware photo recovery software options that are available to help you recover your photos. This blog article reviews and outlines several of the better ones.

Fuji FinePix S2 Pro New 4 Gb disk in cam prompts msg ''Card not initialzied.'' Have tried many things. None work. Help.

Hi,

Go into menu and try to format memory card. Most cameras can just use card right from package without format.Formatting will delete all pics if any available. This is the only solution for your problem.
This is the procedure,In playback mode on the camera (green arrow on selector switch - or middle option if the legend has worn off) press menu/ok -> select format -> menu/ok ->menu/ok to confirm
Any pictures on the card will be lost.

Thank you !!

I need to recover deleted pics

I have had success with this... Download Asoftech Photo Recovery program
http://www.asoftech.com/apr/

You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader. Put the card in the card reader, open the recovery program, then select the drive where files are deleted, then press "Start" and wait for it to do it's magic.

Internal memory is full,I have erased all

Take out memory card from camera, format internal memory to delete all pictures at once or delete them one by one.
Once memory card is inserted in camera, internal memory is no longer available to store/ delete pictures so remove memory card from camera to get access to internal memory.

Format and Check SD card

Purchase an inexpensive card reader such as the Ativa, available at Staples and Office Depot for $9.95. Put your memory card with the photos on it into the reader and plug it into a USB port on your computer. Windows will recognize it as another drive and assign it a drive letter. Using any graphics program, or Windows Explorer, navigate to that drive, open the file containing the pics, click select all, and copy the pics to a file on your computer. Make sure that all the pics have transferred or copied to the new file. Replace the card back into your camera and format the card so it is empty and ready to receive new pics. FYI: Less than 1 gig memory cards are available on ebay for dirt prices. Also, go to the camera manufacturers website and see if they have a firmware update for your camera that allows larger than 1 gig cards to be used. I had to do that for my Fuji S700 so I could use 4 gig cards. It used to max out at 2 gigs. If this has solved your problem please rate it accordingly. Good luck.

Chip says full after few pics

The chip may not be inserted correctly. You can tell by seeing or not seeing SD symbol in the view screen. Try removing the SD card. Go through the memory and see if the pictures were saved to the camera or to the card. If the pictures were saved to the camera, turn off the camera and re-insert the card. See if the cards responds by showing more pictures available for taking and move the pictures to the card. If the pictures were saved to the card, then the card may need to replaced.

New camera won't work!

That message is probably because you have not saved any images in the camera's internal memory. Whatever pictures you took are on the SD card. Try taking a couple of pics using the SD card and try the review. If you are able to review, then all is well. If you cannot review, then one of 2 things:
1. Faulty SD card..Replace or format it.
2. Remove the SD card and take a pic. The pic will be saved in the camera's internal memory. If you still cant preview, probably a fault with the camera, and you'll need to service it.
