While moving my notebook I placed my thumb on the screen, now I have a black hole and at least a quarter of the screen white with aqua, purple, teal and yellow vertical lines. Do you have a fix for me ?

Possibly. You have created a dead pixel area, try massaging the area firmly. Just hard enough for it to change colors, but not so hard that it turns black. Then turn it off and leave it overnight. You may have to do this several times to get it to come back. Depending on the damage, you may have a dark spot in this area, or it may not work at all. This is just about the only thing you can do for this other than screen replacement.

Try another Cord/Charger with the EXACT same power specs. Have you cleaned the fan, vents, heatsink recently? Do you get to any screen? BIOS setup? Boot Menu? Has the AC jack been damaged due to pulling on the cord?

Assuming you are connecting the mointor to DVI or VGA cable. You can connect the monitor through windows. In vista, right click, personalize, display settings, You should see a greyed out monitor. Click extened the desktop onto this monitor, It should automaticaly detect itself.
In xp its similar. Right click on desktop, go to properties. You should see a screen pop up. Go to the last tab. it should be monitor. Click on teh greyed out area and click Extend the display to this monitor.
