first problem its a compaq go buy something else no seriously buy something else
check your bios settings F10 for compaq if i remember corectly might be F2

i mean com on 533 bus and dosnt saport multi core cpu's
my 2004 dell 200 mhz buss saports quad core wth
if its not a bios setting replace your keyboard good luck

two things might be responsible:check the Ram i mean the computer memory if its good or the opearting system might be corrupt. u can try to format the system and load again

go to hp website /type modle number name tell them what you want and they will give you list download /and update bios from there free

Go to the website hp.com in the support area & input your system name. Find the files to download the new bios to your computer. An executable file should have been downloaded to your computer. Double click on the file to install the new bios version. Your computer should reboot.
