Casio Protrek PRG-70-YT

I have a Casio with a problem.
It has barometer, thermometer, digital compass, altimeter.

The Barometer and altimeter stopped working properly when I changed the battery.
I changed it, I did reset it (using the AC and (-) sign thing) but then when I try to access ALTIMETER or BAROMETER i just shows blank lines - - - - where the values should be.
I tried setting new values (reference) but when I press the button, OFF just blinks but nothing happens when I try to press the side buttons to set a value.
Even more, the altimeter shows _ - - - - , which in the manual is described as "out of range".

Do you have any clues ?
Please don't tell me to take it to repair place, in my country there is no such thing, maybe if you had this watch you can help me.

The resonse on waiting for the battery to be fully charged is of no help....my has been fully charged and I have the same problem. Casio tells me to send it in and spend a minimum of $60 for the repair......

Anyone know how to restart the barometer and altimeter?

Scroll through the screens until you get to the alarm screen and select the barometer button to turn alarm on and off.do not go into edit mode.

Erik, the altimeter uses barometric pressure to determine changes in elevation. Rule one is whenever you know the elevation for a fact, adjust it as the barometer is changing often and therefore affecting the altimeter reading. The only sure way to avoid this is use GPS. Altitude is derived from locating 3 or 4 satellites in a geo syncrohnus(SP?) orbit. Pilots always reset the altimeter before take off and you should too. Find elevations on road signs, maps, etc.

When using the barometer or altimeter on my my pag 40 - 2271 it shows err. How do I fix it? Do you know what page in the users guide shows how or gives directions on how to fix?

Same problem with my SPF-40, module 2273, after a small helical compression spring, silver color, fell out. I could not determine where it is suppose to be located. It could be the barometric reference spring for sensing the barometric pressure.

Sounds like the solar back up cell needs to be replaced. You can get it repaired for rather cheap less that $30(US). You can contact www.casiosalesandservice.com to have it serviced. 877.659.0761

Download it and follow the instructions how to set and reset the altimeter and other features of your watch. Use zoom or magnifying tool, as the document originaly has tiny script.

The best would be to start with the battery check (must be full power) and full resetting of the watch.
