SOURCE: Onkyo TX-SR500 Dolby Digital problem

I just read over the problem you were having with your Onkyo TX-SR500 receiver. It sound like the unit needs to be setup for all five channels.Sence your symptom says the diplay shows Dolby D3/2.1. According to the owners manual with the remote control look for speaker setup whin the button is pressed the current speaker setup will be shown in the display. Press the preset/adjustment<> to change the current setting to five speakers. the listening mode will automatically change according to the number of channels you selected. Hope this helps. SOURCE: new home theater setup- no signal at tv using onkyo tx=sr605

Could well be the quality of your cables. if you have high end cables the consult a service agent. if you have the cables that came with the products, go and get some better ones.

When listening to network broadcast of nfl games and some movies the center speaker dialog seems faint

I've experienced the same thing on my TX-SR605. Some NFL games have too much of a surround mix, and it makes the center channel volume seem low. Also, some movies don't seem to be mixed well. Try the ProLogic 2x Movie setting. Also, you can manually adjust the center volume if necessary.

Sound won't play through Onkyo TX-SR605 when using HDMI

The chances are that you have selected an incorrect sound setting or not switched it on, for the HDMI you are using. With Onkyo receivers each connection will have it own settings for video and sound. You just need to look in the manual as to how to select the settings.

I've gone through all of the setup procedures, only the front speakers work, nothing from the rears, center, sub or sides. When setting up with the mic, all goes well?????????????? Onkyo TX-SR602. Tried...

Steve,
I would forget the TV for now. I would use another input source to confirm where the problem is. I would hook up a CD or DVD player to it and check that the speakers are working as they should. If they do work, you may have a bad cable from the TV. Or the new TV is not set for surround sound. It may be as simple as selecting the proper decoder from the TV menu.
