Why does my windows 7 max out all four of my quad-cores cpu when coming out of sleep mode? I've already replaced a power supply. Any suggestions.

Does it max out and stay max out? Or only when it first wakes up?

  • Anonymous May 04, 2011

Only when it wakes up then it goes back to normal. I forgot to mention I have 8gb of memory. So I'm ok there. Also a huge hard drive.

Hello there,
There are probably multiple programs that run on start up that is causing your system to work hard. To resolve this issue, click on the start button and search for "msconfig." Open up Msconfig.exe and head over to the Startup tab. Uncheck anything that you do not immediately need and restart the computer. This should resolve the issue. I hope this helps! Thumbs up are much appreciated.

Another tip

If the CPU's are at 100% this does not actually present a problem unless they stay maxed out at 100% which can cause performance issues. Your computer should use all available resources to load programs as fast as possible and this may lead to a temporary spike in your CPU utilization.

As pointed out, you can possible reduce this by disabling some programs from start up.

Evga sr 2 only will go on one processor.what to do.

Download, and install CPU-Z (From CPUID.com), if you have not already.

Open CPU-Z

Now multitask with your computer.........

Open your email.........look at a video on YouTube........stay on here.....

Get several threads going at the same time.

Or play an intensive game.....

Now look at the CPU tab on CPU-Z

See how both Processor cores are now running?

That is for a dual core processor. It's going to take a bunch more for a quad core.

Using a dual core processor for searching the internet, or watching videos; is like using a fuel dragster to run down to the store.

You need multiple threads open, to get the second core to kick in.
Apply to a quad core also.

Post reply in a Comment.

I have an Emachines EL1210-01e, and i was wondering what cpu i could put in it, without using too much power i want at least 2.8 ghz at miniium and dual or quad core

The Dual and Quad core processors will not fit on your motherboard because it does not have the CPU pins that the later CPUs.
You best bet is to upgrade the motherboard in your computer and the switch mode power supply.
OR
Get a new desktop computer.

I want to purchase nvidia professional card suggest me compatible graphic card for my intel dg35ec motherboard.

Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 is a very good choice but could be on the edge for the power-supply so to be sure spend some on a better power-supply!

How can I coax some more speed out of my Quad Core cpu in my W700 laptop?

Laptops do not generally fair well when it comes to over clocking because of the confined space more heat is generated. If over clocking becomes active it will increase the thermal temperature to the point that the life span will decrease, I strongly recommend you abort the idea for long life.

I have a i5 760 desktop which is continually shutting down 15~20 sec. after start-up. I'd like to know whats the reason behind this problem. When I checked the BIOS it seems the Vcore for the CPU is...

Heat could be the culprit in this situation. Ensure that the CPU Cooler is making good contact with the CPU. Check that it is flat and secure. Also enter the BIOS and check the CPU temperature if possible.

If your mainboard supports 8pin CPU power then you will need to plug in an 8pin CPU power plug or get an adaptor to provide 8pin power.
Your Quad Core CPU needs a fair bit of power. I would suggest nothing less than a 550Watt Power Supply. Depending on the configuration of your computer system.

Would you please list the specifications of your computer system as a comment to this post.
With mainboard make and model number.

Take care!

Why does my windows 7 max out all four quad core cpu's when coming out of sleep mode? Any suggestions. I like sleep mode because of the long boot time.

Does it max out the CPUs for only a few seconds? If so, that's a good thing, it means that it's working fast to boot up, this also happens on a normal boot. If it does it where the CPUs are running at 100% for more than a minute, then you have a problem. In which case, you need to close down more programs before you put it to sleep, or put it to sleep for a shorter amount of time
I hope this helps!

How much total memory will a HP a520n desktop computer hold. One source said max 1 gig yet another source said max 2 gig, which is correct.

Go to crucial.com and have them analyze your computer. They will tell you you can use 2gb, no matter what HP says, and it does work. I just went through the same thing. Saved me from buying a new computer because 1gb wasn't cutting it and I originally thought that was the max for a a520n. Not true. I do suggest going to HP and getting the Bios update from 2005 if you haven't already done that. My a250n runs great with 2gb ram, replacement 500 watt power supply, GeForce 6600gt GPU, and Audigy SE sound card. With optimized paging file and routine disk cleanup this thing still runs well enough to have a few years left in the old girl untill every new program requires dual or quad core 64bit technology and Windows 7 or above.
