Hi there. Basically the batteries dead and needs to be replaced!! This is a common problem right across the board with all laptops, in some cases its the powerboard on the motherboard itself which won't charge any battery new or old. To troubleshoot it you will need another battery to test with it.
If you cannot see the speaker icon in the taskbar, click on Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices and tick place icon in the taskbar. That's if a driver has been installed for your sound device which is a creative sounblaster I think.
