SOURCE: My Tivoli Model One makes a loud screech/buzz noise
I have the same problem with mine. Contacted TIvoli and they said this is a unique problem. I believe it's a common defect related to the AM/FM switch though. Please contact Tivoli. Maybe if enough folks report the problem, they'll consider doing the repair out of the 1-year warranty. Let me know how it goes.
SOURCE: Tivoli Model one radio - volume control does not
I noticed the same problem after I had moved. Hadn't had it before. The solution was easy in my case. (It took some time to accidentally figure it out though). I flipped the power cable around 180 degrees / upside down and re-connected. After this the volume worked as before. This was the model with European power plug.

Well, I will sort of solve my own problem. After searching it seemed to be the volume potentiometer. Not pretty but I pryed the metal casings off the pot and the mode switch, loosed the horizontal board and put a few drops of electrical conductivity enhancing fluid into the volume potentiometer. Put it all back together and it seemed improved for 10 or 15 minutes and popping resumed. Let it sit for a day, turned it on and now it works fine for hours with no popping. I think the fluid may have needed to appropriately evaporate. Good luck.
