Verizon Westell 327w modem cannot connect to internet

Yes. The Westell 6100f is not a wireless modem, therefore, you will need to get a wireless router to connect wireless computers.

Or if your ISP is Verizon and you want a wireless modem/router, you may contact them and replace the Westell 6100f with a Westell Versalink 327w, or Westell 7500, or an Actiontec.

because, it is just normal for the E1 light to blink, but the DSL light should be solid at all times.

It can be a possible issue with the cable or the LAN card, but you still need to have your line checked by Verizon to make sure that it is not a modem or a network issue.

make sure that your old setup not still on go to connect to from the start and right click on the connection and see the one that you are using is present

I do not think this modem will work for you. Contact O.T.C. to be sure. For a few details...

I presume that you can access your Westell wireless modem/router 327w with the IP address of - 192.168.1.254. (Or you can simply type "launchmodem" in the address bar - (one word - no quotes)) This will definitely get you in. You will then see the setup menu. If you see the Bellsouth FastAccess Internet Service logo then you know you definitely have a Bellsouth modem.

Now, let's presume, you are using a Westell wireless modem/router 327w made for Bellsouth/ATT. If this is the case, as stated above, you will see the Bellsouth Logo on the setup page. Additionally, it is stated on the page below, that you cannot use a Bellsouth modem/router for any other ISP (Internet Service Provider) This is due to the Bellsouth/ATT firmware that Westell builds into this modem/router.

"The BellSouth supplied 327W (model C90-327W30-06) is made exclusively for BellSouth FastAccess. They are functionally different from retail Westells (or any model designed for use with other ISPs) and the firmware between them are not compatible and can not be interchanged."

That being said, you still might attempt to use this 327W with orlando telephone company but I do not know if it will work. (Doubtful...) I use the Bellsouth 327W and it is GREAT. (With Bsouth/ATT) Good luck.

P.S. - Please be advised that Westell does manufacture an identical 327W that does NOT have the Bellsouth/ATT firmware.installed. This is the "generic" version I suppose but I have no experience with this one. If you need more just ask. :)

on the back of the modem is a reset button. try resetting and bridging the modem again.

Your dsl line stays the same. you're only changing your dsl equipment.

if you are not able to go online using the 327w, you might need to have it configured depending on the type of connection that you have. if you are using PPPoE (which means you enter a username and password on the modem to connect to verizon) you need your 327w configured for pppoe. but if you are using DHCP connection, any modem or routers should be plug and play.

Most verizon customers from the west coast uses DHCP while those on the east coast uses PPPoE.

You can call tech support to make sure which type of connection you are using.

Try this, go to network connections, right click on your connection, click on properties, where it says this connection uses the following items, scroll down to internet protocol, highlight it then click on properties below it, make sure Obtain IP address automatically is checked. do this on both computers. you can run another ethernet cable from your westell modem to your laptop. hence, if you want your laptop to connect wirelessly, it must have a wireless card/adapter inside. if it already has a wireless adapter, it should automatically detect your wireless network and you just need to connect to it (note: you need to enter the correct wireless security/network key if you have enabled it on your modem). by default the serial number is the ssid of the router and the wireless security is disabled. but if you are not sure of your wireless security, log on to the modem's web user interface by typing http://192.168.1.1 on your web browser's address. then go to the wireless section and verify your wireless settings from there.

the wireless won't work. i have the same problem. westell modems aren't compatible with wireless function on some laptops therefore routing signal through a wireless router allows that. it can be done, i've done it but after modem was reset having issues. keep searching it can be done...
