I have an Acer 6920 and just yesterday I went to go turn it on with the power supply plugged in and connected to the outlet and the light near the power button flashed orange and my laptop wont turn on. The same light near the power button that flashed orange is now blue like it is supposed to be but the computer wont turn on, no fans and the disc drive doesnt even spin nothing happens at all. Need help with this to figure out what happened and if \i cna fix it myself. I have already tried taking out the battery and keeping the power suppl conected and holding the power button down for 30 seconds and still nothing happens only getting that blue power light indicating that the laptop is plugged up and getting power. Thank you, Carla

Hello Carla, It seems that there is a power problem, only it's not very clear where exactly it lies. Does the laptop power up with the battery only (unplugged from the power supply)? If it does, then it's probably a power supply problem and that could be replaced rather cheaply with a new one. If it doesn't start using the battery only, then it's most likely a problem on the laptop itself, which means it should be serviced by someone with the appropriate technical skills.

Sounds like a malfunction in your power supply. I would suggest contacting Acer support and informing yourself about the warranty on your device.

Acer aspire 6920 just went off yesterday abruptly. no power with or without the battery. no power when just using the power cord. I tried removing the battery and ressetting the power button ( no luck)....

Take the battery out and short the pins. If this doesnot work than seems your power adapter is problem. It is not charging the battery. Check if your power adapter is OK. If it is ok than looks like the power jack pin is open. Take it to repair center to have the Jacks fixed

It seems that the power supply unit has gone. If you power it on and nothing happens then obviously the psu has gone. The heat that you felt was the psu overheating because of no fan and hence no ventilation. The noise was of the faulty psu fan that got stuck or did not work and the psu got overheated and got burnt eventually. Please replace it with a new one as a repaired psu may work but you cant rely on it.

The batteries do go bad overtime and will no longer hold a charge but the laptop should still work as long as the power cord is connected. If it still does not work with the power cord connected then it is most likely the power cord, these can go bad, but make sure that the power is securely connected and that if it is plugged into a power strip that it has not been turned off, try another outlet just to rule it out as well.

My Acer Aspire 6920 will not turn on. when I plug it in the power supply light comes on, but the blue light where it plugs into the computer does not. It does not turn on with or without being plugged in....

I think this might be a battery issue, if you can get a hold of another battery try swapping them and see what happens.

post back and tell me what happens

AKAI 32" LCD HDTV WILL NOT TURN ON

The only solution at this point would be to get the power supply repair since new boards are not longer being manufactured. In about 95% of the time if the LCD doesn't power up or turns OFF by itself or need to be unplug for some time to make work again; those are the symptoms of a dying or defective power supply.
I service these power supplies, for more info write to [email protected]
