Hello Carla, It seems that there is a power problem, only it's not very clear where exactly it lies. Does the laptop power up with the battery only (unplugged from the power supply)? If it does, then it's probably a power supply problem and that could be replaced rather cheaply with a new one. If it doesn't start using the battery only, then it's most likely a problem on the laptop itself, which means it should be serviced by someone with the appropriate technical skills.
Sounds like a malfunction in your power supply. I would suggest contacting Acer support and informing yourself about the warranty on your device.
