Toshiba 57H82 has horizontal blur when starting up on HD mode , but over time the picture is clear. However, in Non-HD mode , very blurry but, gets better over time but never clear. What is causing the problem

If its a Toshiba some years old it is the Hyper board bad---a brand and model number are not indicated on this question.

Some of your electronics parts were worn out. Like capacitors may have leaks that need to be replace
as use stated that the word focus were very clear it means that your tube is still okay. or you adjust the focus knob on the compartment. To tune in the 3 colors.

hyperunit failure. that tv uses whats called a " next hyper-unit" it is the digital scan card for the tv. it does the video and audio processing for the tv. they can be very heat sensitive and get better ot worse over time. the repair is very involved i suggest calling a repairman.

sound like you have a bad hyper board.not available new..need to be rebuilt by a rebuilting company

This is a model first sold 2002.

They have a history of the Hyper board failing. Usually noise or lines in the picture and the warmup time gradually gets longer and longer.

This board processes all signal from all inputs inside the set and is no longer available from Toshiba.

The only way to get one is from a national company called PTS Electronics who rebuilds or repairs them--cost for rebuilt board is about 220 plus shipping and part number for this model is:

I have a service bulletin with photos of the board on my computer.

It is a financial decision, not a job for the average do it yourself person to attempt.

Sounds like a bad tuner/decoder on the Qam analog side of things. You can bypass this with a Clear qam converter box or a analog to digital tuner box or simply having this repaired upwards of $200 bucks.

call an authorized sevicer it is possible the Ghost adjustment in the service mode needs to be adjusted.

Probably your G-Hyper board. You will need expert servicer and should cost about 3-400.00

this is a known problem with these toshiba tv's, they will do nothing to help you we should form a consumer group and complain to Washington! The part that needs to be replaced is a hyper pcb,pd0637and is available from Tritronics, in Miami Fl.phone #1-800-365-8030.the part cost me $263.00
