The pedal assembly must be replaced,( part # 558401S), as it has a gear pressed to it which has come loose. The handle, switch plate, and upper motor cover must be removed first. To remove the plastic switch plate, remove it's screws and insert a flat screwdriver into the rectangular slot in it to pop it of. Four screws hold the motor cover in place. Next the switch button must be removed. The Techdrive assembly can be removed by removing the three screws on the bottom. Drop the drive down, and unhook it's belt from the gear on the end of the armature shaft. The pedal assembly can be removed by removing the remaining screw from the bottom of the drive unit. The N/D pedal has two parts - the pedal itself, and the shift cam. Observe carefully how these units fit together. After installing the new pedal and replacing the screw and washer to secure it, re-install the drive unit. The shift must be in the Drive position to install it, and replace the belt. Be sure to line up the arm on the drive unit so that it engages the slot at the base of the handle pivot and re-install the other items.

Silver shaft that holds belt keep coming off

Hi Shane! Sounds like the pump may need replacing if the silver shaft keeps coming off. You may want to have a Qualified Tech at one of our Authorized Service Centers inspect your machine.

Here's a link to help you locate one in your area: http://www.bissell.com/service-centers/?cid=ccsocial

How to install Kirby g4 fan

It needs to be stripped completly down, if you are confident at doing this then here goes.
It has been a while for me so take your time and some of the steps may have to be completed slightly differently.
Isolate / unplug the machine from the mains
Remove the bag, handle and front roller assembly so you are left with a bare machine.
Remove the rear switch cover - 1 x screw.
remove the top aluminium cover 2 x screws at the back and 2 x screws at the front below the light.
You should now see the motor and tech drive.
Remove the tech drive, tech drive belt and rear wheels 4 x screws below the machine.
Remove the wiring to the motor noting the correct connections for putting back.
unscrew the motor 4 x screws inside (think) and two at the front below the fan aperature.
remove the motor and fan complete.
To remove the fan, note the hole through the fan shaft close to the belt position, this is for leverage when unscrewing the fan, hold the motor shaft, insert a small screw driver or punch through the shaft hole and unscrew to remove the fan.
Re-fit in reverse order.

How do I change the belt in a Hoover U4262-930

You got the second hardest part done; the hardest part is what you're asking about.
To get the new belt onto the drive shaft I used a long screwdriver for leverage and wrapped the end close to the shaft and with some elbow grease, got it to "slip" on to the shaft. It took a couple of tries, but once I overcame the fear of the belt breaking (because it has to stretch big time), I managed to get it one. Of course, the other end of the belt has to be wrapped around the roller first.
I found a link for a tech manual for this model, but it didn't help much....
good luck.

I have a kirby ultimate g diamond series. The tech drive lever just fell off. How can I fix this?

Ouch...
You need new pedal assembly. Just Google 558401S . I saw one for $16.10.
You can try to fix it just you would have to install it back at a certain angle. clean shaft very well with alcohol so it is completely grease free and use a drop of superglue. However this is not likely to hold for longer period of time.

Good Luck

Brush roller not moving

This problem has unfortunately plagued many owners of this vacuum including myself. I'm not an expert on vacuums, but through some experimentation I found a workable solution. You can first try a new belt, but that will unlikely solve the problem. For some reason the drive shaft becomes too slick for the belt and so the shaft will spin but it won't catch the belt. I wrapped a piece of electrical tape around the shaft for some added friction, and voila, everything started working again. Eventually, the electrical tape shredded a bit and fell off, but it left enough residue on the shaft to retain friction. I know this sounds like a real hack job, but if you've given up hope on everything else, or you can't return the vacuum, it's worth a shot.

Kirby G5 - the Tech Drive does seem to have much power

you need either a new nutreal cam bracket assembly, that is what engages and disengages the tech drive.OR to adjust the handle pivot assy- diffucult . this is not for the faint of heart. it is possible to fix them as i used to repair kirbys, however, I remember how frustrating it was to figure out how to disassemble and reassemble them. it is very complicated to a novice. I would recomend having it repaired professionaly. it is possible for a professional to repair it in a very short period of time.

another thing to consider. look on the UNDERSIDE of your Kirby, between the two drive wheels. just in fronnt of the tech drive/nutreal switch. there should be a screw there, tighten that screw up. actually tighten all of them. on My generation 3 the center screw came loose and it would not go in to drive and it would make an aweful clatter. hope this was helpful

How to fit new drive belt

First take off the cover on the left side oif the top cover, then turn it over, remove the screw holding the red lock and pull the cap and brush roll out, remove the cap, remove the cogged belt, then you can put the new pump belt thru that slot, put over the pulley on the pump and then stretch it to go over the motor shaft. Then put back together.

The tech drive petal on my Kirby G5 fell off. How do I fix it?

I assume you mean the pedal on the back of the transmission, if so, if has come apart, there is a piece that is pressed onto the shaft. Best to replace the pedal assm., the old one may not stay together anymore, you will have to pull the transmission out to replace it.

Bissell Proheat 2x Series 8920 - Brush Belt Metal Shaft Sprocket won't turn

Most likely the brush motor is bad and not turning, part #2036757, would sell for around $23. To get to it, start taking out screws on the top cover, that motor is under the that top access cover.
