Brand new! Stopped reading discs, won't play. Power to both screens, and the DVD spins really fast, but never reads. Tried several DVDs, so we're sure it's not the disc. Less than 6 weeks old. What could the problem be?
I would take it back to the store, there is a malfunction in the laser pickup assembly, and there is nothing can be done to correct it, a manufacture defect.

Ive only had mine for 2 months and it just stopped playing dvds all together. I had a brand new dvd playing, went to switch it to another new dvd movie and it wouldnt read it or any other dvd Ive tried. I havent tried a blu ray disc yet.
The solution is simple.I rang LG service (so called - LOL) Asked for a fix or reset method. (Which can be done but they won't tell novices how) Got no joy, so now I will bin it,and spend the rest of my days telling people to avoid LG. After all the posts I have since read about the same problem on various LG models,it is obvious their product sucks,they know it does, but won't accept the responsibility. If I stop 4 people buying their ****,that's at least $1000 they miss out on. If the process snowballs,how much then$$ ? It would cost me $120 just to get it to and pick it up from the repair place. Plus parts and labour added. Before buying an LG DVD recorder go online and check out how many dissatisfied customers there are. In short, DO NOT BUY !!
HI,. this is a lens assembly fault. the lens is malfunctioning or, it may have stopped reading. this wrong disc code is just a universal warning that is concerning a fault if the main boarddoesn'treceive any data(audio,video) when the disc is inserted.
Due to the integrated status of your unit, this will be a costly repair because, the entire assembly is combined together with the vcr section as well.
You will need to replace the entire assembly to fix this issue. the lens has burned out.
you can confirm my diagnosis by preforming a cleaning of the lens with a cleaning disc. if the unit continues to not read or play a CD after the cleaning, this will confirm my diagnosis.
I have this same problem. Plays music CDs fine but DVDs do not work. It recognises the DVD tries 3 times to play it displaying "Reading" and then moves on to the next available disk. Any suggestions?
Reset you player by doing the following:
With the player on, hooked properly to your television, and on the correct station:
Open the tray
Close the tray (with no DVD inserted)
Hold the stop button down for a full 5 seconds
The CyberHome screen should appear. You should be able to play your dvd's now.
