Hi,
Welcome to Fixya
By the way have you purchased the VRM module . If you are about to upgrade the server with second processor you should have VRM also . Without VRM , the second process wouldn't work and it will light out amber LED(Orange) . Now If you have VRM then just swap the processor and check. That is check whether the second processor works while insert it in first processor slot. If it works then it relates to motherboard issue .

Thanks

Memory installation

Perhaps there is a problem with the 2nd slot in your motherboard.
Tr this - place the two memory sticks in the Outside two slots - the orange ones.
OR you didn't get the correct speed memory - usually the motherboard will interleave two slots to access the memory faster - than if only one memory module is installed.
The "DDR1" slot is the one closest to the CPU processor chip.
The manual for your mb can be found at: http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Manual/motherboard_manual_k8u939_e.pdf

Just installed mobo ms-7091 m atx but find it as no video out ports how do i get a picture.i know its old but its my first attempt at building pc can i just install a graphics card.

I found the user manual here :
http://217.110.237.70/Manuals/Medion%208383XL%20mit%20MS-7091.pdf
Your motherboard provides 1 pci-express x16 slot, so you will need to install a pci-express video card.
Try to get a video card that doesn't need to be powered by the power supply. There are some out there that don't need to be powered, but .....
Most, but not all, pci-e video cards need to be plugged into your main computer power supply to work. If your power supply was designed to power a pci-e video card, it will have a 6 pin pci-e power connector to connect to a pci-e video card. If your power supply doesn't have this connector, you should replace the power supply with one with the pci-e power connector.

How do i open dell 4600 to install RAM

Do be aware that this is older type motherboard adn will support only 512mb per slot. It have 4 slots and can therefore handle 2gb RAM in total. If you flushed BIOS with newest one, it may handle 1gb chips, but it is very finicky on that. You need to use slow memory, 184pin. I would not go higher than PC3200 (400MHz).

Now, you will need philips screwdriver, the procedure:

1. switch off computer and remove power cord from it
2. disconnect powered auxilliaries (monitor, external hard driver, similiar)
3. remove 2 (two only!!!) screws holding left side panel (that is left while you are looking at front of the computer) and slide panel out towards back, lifting it slightly.
4. locate processor and next to it, towards front of the computer are located 4 memory slots.
5. push outward little tabs on each end of memory slot
6. remove old memory by lifting it out, sometime they need bit of wiggling
7. align new memory notch and firmly press into memory slot till end tabbs close, you may help them bit by closing them in full on the end of they travel
8. new memory should be installed in pairs, first pair is going to slot 1 (closest to the processor), and slot 2 (third from the processor), if you install four sticks, next pair is going slot 3 (second form the processor) and slot 4 (furthets form the processor).
9. check and whiggle in all wires which you may touch during installation
10. close the case and re-do screws
11. remove and re-insert all cables on the back
12. connect monitor
13. connect power and switch on your monitor and computer

I would not upgrade memory on this motherboard above 2gb, especially if operating system is windows xp, windows xp do not handle memory above 2gb very well, and do not handle abow 3gb at all.

Let me know how did you go! :-)

Toshiba satellite A100 slot 2 doesn´t work. A

Is memory matched (DDR2 667)

Have you put original mem in slot 2

Download / install CPU-Z with both modules in and run program to see if it shows.

If all above is correct may be damaged mobo.

This is for your laptop from vendors site.

Memory5
• Configured with 512MB DDR2 SDRAM (1 slot occupied and 1 available)
• 512MB(min)/2048MB (max), 2 memory slots using 256MB, 512MB or 1024MB PC4200 DDR2 533MHz SDRAM.

I have intel 845 glly desktop board with 256 mb SDR. When I added 128 mb SDR in the second slot it is not recognising it. How to add 128 mb SDR with 256 mb SDR. When I fix 128 mb ram in first slot and...

1st try to exchange the cards in the slot.
2nd try another card
3rd ur RAM slot may not be ok
4th ur RAMs may not be compatible
5th ur new RAM card may not be ok
use same type of RAMs, and same size...
if u have 256, add 256
if u ahve 128 add 128
if u have SDR then dont add DDR
getting compatibility is little difficult...
some times no combinations can work...
note...technology keeps changing...so a old RAM card that was bought years ago may not be compatible with a new RAM card....
even i got all my old RAM cards(256+128) removed and got 2 - 512mb of the same type fixed...even i had issues with my RAMs for 6 months...

Problem with upgrading processor

Sounds like the processor you're trying to upgrade to isn't the same frequency. The processor, motherboard, and memory have a matched frequency. For example; a motherboard with a frequency of say PC4200 will only accept a processor and memory of a PC4200 frequency. If you try to use PC5300 memory it basically won't do anything, blank screen, or maybe a beep. The same if you tried to use a processor with PC5300 on the PC4200 board. The best way to find the frequency rating is to look on the memory. They class the memory by frequency, but rarely ever list the frequency for the board or processor. Research the new processor to find out the memory class and then see if it matches the memory in your machine. If it doesn't then the processor won't work. If it does, then new processor may not be compatible, and that means more research.

Asus K8N-dl - second processor present but not running...

Hi, Mistyman here. All Asus mother boards that have dual channel RAM slot must have equal ram in each slot. In most cases the paired slots are matched by color for easy ID, some are identified by a printed ID on the mother board. With your board you will have to have run all of your RAM for the one CPU. If you have only one stick this must be in slot one. If you are using two sticks then utilise the dual chanel system that ASUS have and use A1 & A3. To activate the second CPU you will need to install matching sticks of RAM in the B slots. both cpu's will need to have the value of RAM to work together properly. CPU one = slot A for RAM CPU two = Slot B for RAM. Goodluck, the ASUS boards are a value product.
