5. Type "cmd" and hit enter. This will open black background command prompt window.

6. Where the cursor is blinking, there type "ipconfig". This give you the IPaddress of the machine.

7. Copy or wirte down the IP address and open Internet Explorer.

8. In IE top address box of http, type the default gateway adress... Eg: 192.168.1.1

11. That will take you to router configuration page. Sellect Wireless and then wireless security.

12. Choose security type as open and Encryption type as WEP

13. Network security key as your choice of 10 digit numbers shich only you or your family members can use and access internet. and clikc submit. Later you can unplug the LAN cable from laptop as it will on wireless.

Public wireless conection unable to connect

Hello It`s probably your wireless router that`s not working, or you could be too far away from the antenna.
Is the power supply working, for the router, are the cable set right, is the router on, are your internet connection working.

You can take the router, to a computer repair shop and let them test it.
The router must be connected like this:

But the wireless setup code for it, is different from one router to another.
If the wireless is working elsewhere, the pc is not the issue.

Good luck

WIFI not working with Linksys wireless-g broadband router/Comcast

Unplugging the wireless router and connecting it again should not have altered the wireless connection/configuration. You have connected the cables correctly because the Internet works when you connect a LAN cable to the router.
The Linksys wireless configuration or the wireless card configuration in the computer was changed it to lose the wireless connection. The wireless card configuration needs to be changed to match the wireless router's settings or change the Linksys with new configuration settings and configure the wireless card accordingly.
To secure your router with a login password and wireless security, please follow my instructions - click on this link :-

I have a d-link router. i can connect to my

The wireless card is configured for your D-Link at home.
You need to configure your laptop's wireless card for the wireless settings at work too (ie the SSID and encryption etc.). Contact the network manager at your work for the wireless configuration so you can configure the wireless card with these settings.
It maybe possible to setup different profiles on the laptop's wireless card, one for home and one for work so you can just click on the correct profile depending on your home or work location.

TOSHIBA EQUIUM WIRELESS PROBLEM

You might deleted your driver to wireless connection or you perhaps upgraded Service Pack to higher version. If your wireless connection will work on lower SP then that device won't work or vice versa.
Another thing, try to check connections. Click menu and look for connections and try to enable wireless connections.

Actiontec GT704-WG wireless connection not working

Hi,
you say it suddenly stopped working, if you can connect to the router via ethernet cable then try to access the router's web utility page and make sure your router is in mixed or G-only. If you can't still connect to the router through wireless then try restarting the Wireless Zero Configuration from windows. This is how it's made: Go to control panel and double-click "administrative tools", then double-click "services". You will see a list, scroll down to Wireless Zero Configuration and click "stop", you'll see a progress bar. After that click "start", you'll see another progress bar. Now try connecting to your router via wireless connection. If you still can't connect then repair the connection by right-clicking the wireless icon at the bottom right corner. Keep repairing until you connect.
Hope this works!
