Who can repair a Gateway DC-T50

Refer to the manual page below - note the last 2 items
If you take the camera and the card to a sales outlet the assistants are usually helpful

Inserting an SD Memory Card(Optional)
All images and video clips taken by the camera can be stored in an SD (Secure
Digital) Memory Card. Even if the camera's power is OFF, the images saved in the
SD Memory Card are not erased. An SD Memory Card can be repeatedly read and
written. You may also expand the memory capacity up to 512MB so that you can
store additional images and video clips.
1. Make sure the camera is off.
2. Slide the battery/SD Memory Card cover in the direction of the [OPEN] arrow.
3. Insert an SD Memory Card :
The front side of the memory card (printed
arrow) should face towards the front side
of the camera.
If the card cannot be inserted, check the
orientation.
4. Close the battery/SD Memory Card cover.
To remove the SD Memory Card, make sure
the camera is off. Open the battery/SD Memory Card card cover. Press
lightly on the edge of the memory card and it will eject.
Note:
If the camera is powered-on without the card, the "NO CARD" message appears on
the LCD monitor.
To prevent valuable data from being accidentally
erased from an SD Memory Card you can slide the
write-protected tab (on the side of the SD Memory
Card) to "LOCK".
To save, edit or erase data on an SD Memory Card,
you must unlock the card.
MultiMedia Card (MMC) can not be used.
You need to format an SD Memory Card before using it in this camera

Gateway digital camera DC-T50 5.25 megapixels put new memory card and a card error message appears

The camera uses SD cards. I assume your new card is 8GB, not 8MB as you stated. If this is the case, it's an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work in the SD-only camera. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

The camera beeps when we put the card in.

The images you take with your PDC 640 camera are stored on a removable 3.3V SSFDC or SmartMedia 2 MB memory card (also available in 4 MB and 8 MB). Note: You must insert the memory card before you can turn on the camera.

If camera beeps is enabled, the camera beeps if the card is not installed and displays the [ ] message on the Status panel.

To insert the memory card:
1. Make sure the lens cover is closed (the power is off).
2. Open the memory compartment on the side of the camera.
3. Insert the memory card into the slot (gold side of the card facing the front of the camera).
Make sure the card is pushed firmly into the slot. Note: The camera prompts you to format the memory card if it is not formatted. The camera displays the format menu on the LCD viewfinder. Press the button next to Format.
4. Close the memory compartment cover.

If you can, try using a different memory card. Else, your memory card contact terminals inside the camera may have become worn, causing the camera to not recognize the card once it is inserted.

CAMERA WILL NOT TURN ON

Had the same problem. Open battery/memory card compartment and identify the protruding piece on the inside of the door which when the door is closed appears to make contact with a switch. I solved my problem by using a very soft pointed object and very very gently pushing down on the switch. Replace the battery & memory card and switch the camera on as normal. It worked for me which would suggest that maybe sometimes the switch can become stuck or the protruding part on the door does not make proper contact. Hope this works for you.

Check memory card from computer with card reader.
If that doesn`t help.

Error message: battery cover open. This message appears in the window and will not let me operate camera until problem is resolved. The cover is closed, but the message will not go away. I have re-set...

try closing the battery cover. if you do not know what that is, it is where the sd card and the battery are held. the cover for that is the battery cover. if it is closed, and still not working, make sure its closed all the way, if it is, take it to best buy or circut city or any other electronics store and ask them.

I havd the same problem. The contacts arent pushing the card in far enough to be recognized. Ive been stuffing a small piece of folded paper in there to push it down. Its annoying, but solves the problem.
