The images you take with your PDC 640 camera are stored on a removable 3.3V SSFDC or SmartMedia 2 MB memory card (also available in 4 MB and 8 MB). Note: You must insert the memory card before you can turn on the camera.

If camera beeps is enabled, the camera beeps if the card is not installed and displays the [ ] message on the Status panel.

To insert the memory card:
1. Make sure the lens cover is closed (the power is off).
2. Open the memory compartment on the side of the camera.
3. Insert the memory card into the slot (gold side of the card facing the front of the camera).
Make sure the card is pushed firmly into the slot. Note: The camera prompts you to format the memory card if it is not formatted. The camera displays the format menu on the LCD viewfinder. Press the button next to Format.
4. Close the memory compartment cover.

If you can, try using a different memory card. Else, your memory card contact terminals inside the camera may have become worn, causing the camera to not recognize the card once it is inserted.

I need to set up the card on my Olympus C-5060 camera. When I choose the format button, it just beeps forever.

1. Power the camera off and remove and replace the card several times.
2. Recheck.
3. Put in another memory card and check.

If the recheck (2) does help, it may be dirty contacts.
If another memory card has the same issue, the camera needs repair.

I'll push the power button and the little green light flashes it beeps and the lense comes out just a tiny bit but then in stops goes back in and beeps twice and it's still off. Is there and...

First check the battery. Charge the battery to full condition or change with new battery and try to turn on your camera.
Or you can put off all batteries and memory card, wait for a moment, then put in again and turn on your camera.

Hope this help

Turn on the power and the camera beeps 3 times?

hmmm... accesses the card ok? 3 beeps on a computer is a memory thing... might try a differnt SD card... Otherwise, probably is trash, cameras are so cheap that having a shop repair them is just not worth it.

Peace,

Olymp c-5000 won't turn on red/ yellow lights blink/ beep 20 time

Furrybutts (hehehe, like the name), This could be a lot of things and I'm sure there's a service guide out there that will tell us what 20 beeps and flashing lights mean, as I don't have one, let's figure it out.
Firstly, digi-cams and rechargables, eerrrrrgggg (Mr Burn's shudder) yeah they 'work', but for trouble shooting and iffy times, lets look at some half desent NEW alkaline batteries - for about $3-$4, it's worth it for this troubleshoot.
OK, did they work?, No?, lets look at the memory card. The cards are supporsed to be only put in one way, but ... lets take out the card, clean the contacts with a clean cloth/tissue, and put the card back in being sure it's in the right way. Still no go?
Take the card out again and try and turn the camera on without the card. Any changes?
This camera uses an XD memory card. I can't remember if it has an internal memory - what we're looking for is whether the memory is damaged and the camera is happy using it's internal memory or still erronous with no memory. Do you have access to another XD card to try it (this camera will take a MAXimum of 512mb, so don't try and card bigger).
Lets leave it at this for now and you let me know how things are going?

Memeory cards

The card may be faulty, check the card by inserting into a card reader then into a computer to see if the computer can read and copy files to the card. If you can read and copy files to the card the it is OK, delete these files, insert the card into your camera again and format the card before taking photos.

Memory card

Make sure you have saved everything you want from the card on your PC, then format the card (FAT 32) with the card in the card-reader.

Then put the card back in the camera.

Can't guarantee this will work, but it's worth a try.
