If your icemaker is producing small cubes, hollow cubes, huge cubes, or a solid slab of ice, one of the first things you want to check is the fill level. And it's not as difficult as you might think. (Hey, the hard part's wrenching that bottle out of Pookie's little fingers!) Unplug the refrig, pull the icemaker - usually one screw underneath, either 2 more or hooks above the cube mold - and unplug it. Take it to your sink and melt out any cubes with hot water. Then plug it and the refrig. back in, leaving it unattached from the freezer wall.

Manually start a 'harvest cycle' (see below) and hold Pookie's bottle under the fill tube. You'll have to wait a few minutes, because the water enters near the end of one complete rotation of the cube ejector, which constitutes a 'harvest cycle'. Regardless your type of icemaker, you're looking for 130-150 cc's, with most working best around 145cc's, but anywhere in this range should work OK.

(When replacing your icemaker with a new one, always check and adjust the water fill level this way too. You'll save yourself a lot of trouble.)

What is 1F code on kenmore elite refrigerator

The Er IF error code indicates that the main control board detects that the ice compartment cooling fan is not working. This will cause a lack of cooling in the ice compartment and will normally result in no ice production. This is something that a service technician will usually need to correct.

Frig wont cool fan not running freezer working

fan is not working thus u have very little cold air circulating into the fridge. check the fan with a multi meter for continuity? it may be out? When u say freezer working? is there an ice build up ? if so u may have a bad defrost terminator or defrost timer, which in turn blocks the fan from working due to ice build up?

Sounds like a defrost problem, is there ice on the back wall of the freezer? If so the defrost system has failed. The most common repair is a Part# 67004757 defrost thermostat and adaptive defrost board Part# 67004704. Even with the parts in your hand, you will need to de-ice the freezer to replace the thermostat in the freezer section, then unplug unit to replace the adaptive defrost board located in the controls of the refrigerator section. Normally it can take about an hour to complete.
Good Luck

I have a Samsung RF268ABRS Unit all food in bottom freezer thawed. Unit is running and ref is cool. I notice that the fan dosent seem to blow. Closed freezer up and its cold, but no air moving. How do...

I had a similar problem. my samsung freezer would only cool to 20 degrees, which also resulted in the freezer ice maker not functioning. (fridge door ice maker still worked) If you hold the power freeze and power cool buttons down together for 8 seconds it will a diagnostic. found the answers on http://appliancejunk.com/forums/index.php?topic=8206.0 , as too what the codes meant. Mine was throwing a freezer fan code error. ordered one online $30 and replaced it. seems to be working. TIP -The fan is located behing the rear panel in the freezer. I had two fans. The regular looking one is the freezer fan, the squirrel cage fan feeds the fridge ice maker. Also the new fan motors don't come with blades, just pull the blades off the old one and put it on the new motor. Don't push it on too far, make sure there is enough clearance so it spins freely.

Our bottom freezer, frenchdoor whirpoolgold 2008 refrigerator stopped cooling the refrigerator last night. The freezer works fine. What do I need to do. I emptied the refrigerator, vacumnned off the...

It has a motor mounted above the evaporator that pushes air up into the fresh food compartment. That fan motor might not be working. To get to it you need to remove the bottom door and get the food out. Remove the ice maker and shelves and then the rear access panel can be removed. Before going through all that though you can check the continuity of that fan at the control board located behind the ice box. I have a repair manual HERE

Freezer working but Fridge not cooling... Tried adjusting temp to max cool and nothing. Unblocked vents, still nothing... Pulled off back panel cover to vacuum and brush... still nothing... help??? In case...

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

Bosch KGU31124 Freezer Not Working

I have the same freezer and get the same problems. Ice forms on the refrigeration fins beind the plastic shroud at the rear and completely blocks the airflow. The fan that moves cool air around does not work then and freezer temp goes up. Ice will often push the shroud forwards so that the door does not close properly. Warm moist air get in and just increases the ice problem.

I take the shroud and fan housing off the rear (4 screws and a wire to the fan) and defrost thoroughly using a hair dryer. You can then see when all the ice has gone..

Make sure that the flap where the ice comes out is shut, or that the seal is sealing correctly.
