SOURCE: Load Clicking Noise on Deep Bass or Explosion sequences

If that irritating noise only comes from one of your speakers even though you've changed the amplifier to test whether it continues, I think the problem must be that the relevant speaker is blown. By the way, have you ever tried to switch left and right speakers instead of changing the amplifier?

When you play to loud, the sub element hits the magnet and thats the sound you are hearing. Nothing wrong with the speaker, but you could damange your sub element doing this several times.
Solution, turn the volume done.
The speakers sound great, but remember there are only 2 7" speakers, they cant produce an earthquake. For that you need bigger subbs.

SOURCE: I Need values of resisters R-82 and R-85.

more than likely there probably just fusable resistors wich are just low resistance resistors normall 1-10 ohms designed to burn out if current draw is excessive ive had alook everywhere for the schemtaics for this and i cant find it sorry i can't help much, ben

Testimonial: "Thank you. It does make sense since output I C package was shorted."

Is it normal for carver power amps to have a slight hum? I have a carver-55x

Hum can come from a jillion different places. Is this hum coming from the unit with no speakers connected, or is it heard through the speakers? What sources are being used? What cables? Are thereany common sources of interference near? Troubleshooting is difficult without much information.

Dm605 s2 speakers have static noise

If the noise you hear comes from the tweeter or the midrange speakers, it means your amplifier is noisy; if the noise comes from the woofer, then the internal amplifier (it has its own) of the speaker is noisy. If both speakers are noisy, it is most probable that the "static noise" you hear comes from the external amplifier, which you will have to check or change.

I own a pair of B&W dm605's and I am getting distortion from one of the units in the bass drivers. I have switched out the drivers with the 2 from the unit not making the noise and it is still there so...

I use sightly different nomenclature than you do, as I am an old audiophile However, if you have switched the dm605 that has the problem to the inputs to the dm605 that was OK and that unit stil has distortion, the problem is with the dm605 with the distortion. If the dm605 uses passive crossover network (inductor and capacitor), I doubt that is is the problem. That leaves the amplifier internal to the dm605 or or the speakers themselves. One or more of the speakers could have a tear in the speaker cone or physical interference between the magnet and coil..Interference can be caused by dirt or misalignment.

I Need values of resisters R-82 and R-85. They feed plus and minus voltage to power amps. amps shorted and burned resistors. The amp is a subwoofer amp in a B & W model DM605 s2 speaker. Any help would...

If the resistors were blown, the power amp which is either transistors or an amplifier package has been shorted out. The resistors are very low resistance, and used really as slow blowing fuse. The value is probably a fraction of an ohm (eg. point two ohms)

Load Clicking Noise on Deep Bass or Explosion sequences

Hi everyone having problem with B&W DM605 S2 speaker. The speakers are rated at 8ohm but during playback the impedance drops below 4ohm at low frequencies. It overloads weaker amplifiers and sometimes causes DC voltages to be injected into the speakers. Since the speakers in question are with active sub it appear that some elements on the PCB could be damaged. I would opt for LM431 (Adjustable Precision Zener Shunt Regulator) and associated elements. It could also be the rotary switch (the one used to adjust base levels - 2pole/6way) as contacts weakens over time. Possible solution: 1. switch your amp. to 4ohms 2. with the sub turned off change the position of the switch few times from max left to max right before setting it up in the desired spot.
If the problem persists: 1. replace the switch
2. replace suggested elements checking also KBL401 (Rectifier). TDA7294 (Amplifiers) are usually O.K.
