Lamp nearing end of life
Your best bet is to get a good TV Repair guy out to your house, that has the Sony Service Code Manual for your set. The TV Tech can access your Service Codes and clear that message out, and possibly make some adjustments that can eliminate the yellowish hue.
The yellowish hue could also come from smoking in the house or burning candles. I have 2 friends that still smoke and had the same problem with their Rear Projection Sony set. When the tech took their set apart he found the brown tar & the soot from the candles had covered the lens and much of the lamp area. They ended up getting a new set because of what it would have cost them to fix & clean the old one up.
There are at least 2 or 3 fans that pull air into every Rear Projection set. The air is pushed out the back of the set to keep it cool, so if they are sucking in dirty air, it will cover the electronics very quickly and greatly shorten the life of the set.
This is not as much of a problem for the newer "Flat Panel" (non-projection) sets because they usually do not need fans. They just let the heat rise throu the vents in the top of the cabinet.
