Something could have broke off inside the connector. Try to look in side and see if there is anything blocking the connection. Tweezers can help out and pull out stuff that is blocking. Make sure that the camera is powered off. Better remove the battery to play it safe also. Check the condition of the USB cable that goes into the camera make sure it's not bent or dented. You can use a small needle nose pliers to fix that if it is.

My acer aspire 7736G was working fine, it's about 2.5 years old, and is used mainly with the power cord plugged in. When using it the other day the computer just went dead on me. I took the batter

You have reached the end life of the battery pack. The battery must have some minimum charge to have computer function even with the AC power pack connected. So I suggest you replace the battery pack as a solution. Any local Radio Shack store can test this battery I am told free of charge.

My usb cord wont fit into my kodak easyshare z740

Consider NOT using the USB connection.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Will the usb cable provided with camara charge the battery while connected to my computer. Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS6

No, it won't. You need to use the included battery charger. If you need a new one, you can find a replacement at bestbatt.com

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!
Yes, it has been seed that other similar model cables doesn't work properly due to minor changes in their structure, although he connectors are same but I'll recommend you to get the original cable for your cam.
The inappropriate cable may end up in some other loss.
