Gateway Monitor FPD1760

When I turn on the power to the Monitor, the screen image comes on and looks normal, but only stays on for 3 or 4 seconds. Then the screen goes completely black. The blue power button is still on.

If I turn the power button off and then back on, it will do the same thing. The screen image comes on and looks normal, but only stays on for 3 or 4 seconds. Then the screen goies completely black. The blue power button is still on.

I have the same problem with Gateway Monitor FPD1760 , Any solution?

    Thanks

  • Fefondo Jul 20, 2008

I am having the same exact problem with my FPD2275W monitor. Unfortunately its 1 month and 2 days out of warrenty when I called Gateway and they wont honor the warrenty. Originally, the first tech support person I talked to said they would, but then the next day they called back and said they wouldnt. Gateway has the WORST customer service I have ever experienced!

I tried hooking the monitor up to my laptop to see if it was something in the desktop computer that was the problem, but same thing happened. It will flash the display for a second or two and then go completely black.

Is this a common problem with this monitor?

Sounds like classic symptoms of capacitor failure.
Old thread, but in case anyone else is still looking for an answer, the problem is probably bad capacitors on the power board. There was a world-wide problem with capacitors in the early 2000's that affected all kinds of electronics. For a good summary/review see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague .
Make sure the replacement capacitors are the proper size, specs (volts (v) & micro-farads (mf)) and temperature rated for 105°C. Make sure to install them in the proper orientation, they have a positive (+) and negative (-) terminal. I had 3 bad ones but replaced them all. It's actually quite simple and cheap if you have basic soldering skills. If you're not sure, research soldering technique and safety. Be Safe Out There.

Power light coming on when you plug it in but no lighting of the screen is usually caused by the power inverter board having gone bad. Common on the 17s due to their age is a bad bulb or more.
I repair these 90% of the time

I want to put my laptop and connect it with Gateway monitor. What type of plugs do I need?

Spec of the monitor http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Gateway-Gateway-Monitor-FPD1760
It will need the VGA cable (3-row/15-pin D-SUB), you need to look at your laptop monitor port to see what you have for the output.
Failed TV and Monitors: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

And you will need to set the laptop video signal to be at the native resolution of this monitor, which is 1280 x 1024 @60Hz.

This monitor is great. Just recently, after 3

It seems so.

1. Change the monitor cable and see if this still happens

2. Attach this monitor to another PC and see if this still happens

If it is still happening, then yes, it seems that it is failing.

Gateway fpd1760 lcd monitor no power at all the blue led clicks on for 5 seconds the screen flashes for a milla second then nothing

check if the signal cable has been plugged in properly at the back of the screen and at the back of the computer.

if you have another computer or laptop,.check if the screen works fine with it.as this could even be a boot up problem with the computer

Gateway FPD1760TFT LCD monitor

Problem
1. turn on computer
2. monitor receives signal, it looks like its working
3. it goes through some steps and then the monitor says "no signal" and kind of stays in limbo with fans running, etc.

Solution
One possibility is that computer is looking for drivers for you video card. It could be hung up looking in the wrong places. Remove all peripheral hard drives and memory sticks. Try again.

Gateway fpd1760 monitor loses picture after 2 seconds...

Check to see if the image is Dimmed. Chances are the power supply on the FPD is either dead or not supplying power to the back lights.

Screen completely white

One gets to open it up and find out where the signal from the computer is lay aside. Hunt up the model number on the inside of the monitor (the ODM part numbers) for the service manuals if you can use them. Otherwise you can call Gateway or look for a shop (sometimes even buy repair insurance coverage with the thing in that nonfunctional state.)

Monitor looses power after 10 seconds.

Its better to change your monitor because if the monitor usage goes above 90% then this type of problem occurs...
